    Instead of the usual cotter pins, Omega used spring pins to add the removable links.

    Tried to remove links the usual way, but the pins do not move.

    Is there another way to do this, or do I just need a bigger hammer? ;)

    Help is very much appreciated.

    Don't now how your bracelet looks but if it is spring pins . Just press down and do as you do with a spring bar in a watch . Don't hammer on it . Looking something like this ? Just press the pin down and twist the bracelet . download (1).jpg

    If the bracelet is old and dirty, the spring bars could be packed with dirt. A good cleaning might help loosen them up.

    Thank you very much for your replies.

    @rogart
    Yes, it's a brick bracelet. your pic is showing a link for it.

    As you can see here, the pin is connecting all five rows and needs to get out, to part the bracelet.

    @Archer
    Yes, that is a very probable cause. What do you use to clean a bracelet? I normally use soap, but have not yet had the success to get the dirt out, that is invisible within the links.

    I use an ultrasonic tank with a water based cleaner in it. It's really the only way to get the dirt out from between links with any success.

    Hi Archer, many thanks. I take it that 068ST9967 is the short spring bar used for the links themselves?

    I'm struggling to find that on Ofrei though.

    The closest I can find is 068ST9978 which is listed as being for "older Omega bracelets that use a spring to hold removeable links together" and specifically refers to bracelet 1410 / 058. Do you think it is possible that these will fit my 1040?

    1419 is for the clasp, 2207 is for fitting the bracelet to the case, and 9967 is for the links. No dimensions are given, so I have no idea if the one you refer to would work.

    Thanks Archer, your help is much appreciated. Ofrei do not have 9967 unfortunately but I now see that they do list OME Spring Bar 27 for 1181 bracelets. Researching elsewhere I can see that this link would be:

    OM-068ST1181 – Omega Link Spring Bar Dimensions: body diameter 1.50 mm, length solid body 9.2 mm, long pivots

    I think this might work - will measure later.

    Correction: I now see that Cousins in the UK list 068ST9967 so I'll give them a try.
