Hi people!

I have a 1039 bracelet with way to many links missing...I think at least 3-5 links/side?
I have no clue how this happened!

I got it on a Speedy last year, and just put it away.

How is the best way to make this one correct?
And I can't do the work myself, so it should be some kind of Pro help that I need, and I need the links also.

Its perfect for my wife, but that's a no-no!!🙄

Looking forward to your help and advice ( as usual..👍)!

@Tom Dick has done a tutorial on adding links to these.
It’s quite straightforward.
Of course you need to source the links first.

@watchlovr
I did a massive scroll thru his posts (amazing guy by the way..😀), but couldn't find the post...

I might have missed it, but can you help me pointing out it?

Not for ladies, but with many links missing. It should be 8 fixed links each side, and 6+4 elastic links each side of the clasp.

Well... I did a bit of thinking (not my best thing maybe...)!
And took some pics on another 1039, but I didn't dare take the bracelet off,
Yepp - Chicken, I know...
This one sits perfect on my wrist.

And trying to count the links, the upper one (above the 12 marker/dot 60) must need 4 more,
and the lower one (below the 6 marker/dot 120) needs 2 more?

Am I totally off here??🤔

Help.....

You do need the links though!
Should have done this reply before my post, but...

Do you think it is possible to source the missing links....😀

It’s possible but not easy and not cheap.

Generally I’ve taken the approach of selling bracelets that are too short and buying one in the correct length.

Yepp, I have thought about that also, it might be the best thing to do?
Sourcing the right pieces etc could take a lot of time and effort...🤔

It’s also easy to make a pigs ear of it. I’ve taken similar jobs to local watchmakers in the past who didn’t make a good job.
For me the only options are;
- Sell the short bracelet and put the funds towards a replacement with correct length (my default position).
- Add links. I only do this if it’s worth the effort (I.e. the bracelet is likely to be original to the watch and it’s in good condition). If this is the case; 1) learn how to do it yourself, or 2) only give it to a watchmaker who you are confident will make a good job.

Or option nr 3
-put it back in the box and forget about it?

Well, maybe not, it might be something to do in the future?
And try and read/learn more about bracelets.

I found a nice post by @hejsam
https://omegaforums.net/threads/thi...-to-the-few-good-flat-links-out-there.156438/

I can start there with counting links etc🙄

Have a nice week-end!
