Omega “vintage” buckle design flaw…

On some of Omega’s retro-style, new watches, they tout a vintage-style buckle. CK and OT 859 are two examples. There are others as well:


Look at the design of the buckle tongue, compared to their standard buckle:



The problem is, that acute angle in the top photo requires one to bend their strap to almost 90 degrees to unhook it once it’s on. Most buckles, what, 20 to 30 degrees at most? So now, of course, the strap leather has fatigued from the repeated, excessive bending.

Anyone else notice this?
