Old Seamaster question

When I removed the crystal from my (ref 14700) it did not have a tension ring. The crystal that ofrei sent had a gold ring and when I called, they assured me that it was the right part. Anyway, I broke the ring and am still wondering if I had the right one. So to my questions:

Is 5140 pz the correct part number?
Does this reference use a tension ring or no?
What function does the bezel have on the assembly? Does it require an o-ring?

Thanks again. Item in question is in my avatar.

Search for the thread that has a list of crystals crowns and gaskets and check the number. Also use google and I’m sure you can answer these questions.

If you had the right part, it may have been broken through user error.

I don’t know what the crystal ref is, as Dan says, it shouldn’t be too hard to find out. This ref does take a crystal with a tension ring though.

Apparently, the crystal lift is the wrong tool for inseting a crystal with a tension ring.😀

Just purchased 2 crystals from ofrei. If anyone here needs on, let me know. Also, does the bezel go on before or after the crystal is installed?

Well if you have one, I may need it as mine is cracked. But at the moment i am trying to figure out why the movement won't come straight out when I take the bezel, crystal and tension ring off. It may well be that this movement is terminal and is being held in tight to the movement with rust!

Or is there some trick to releasing a front loader movement?

By the way, how difficult is the crown to get please?
