The caliber 2500D in this watch is a co-axial movement. Yes, it's worth finding this model and you shouldn't have any difficulty finding a good example in the $3,000 - $3,500 range. The watch origionally retailed for $4,400 USD.

I like this model better than the wave dial personally.
As do I. Compared to the current model, it's smaller, thinner, has an applied logo and a solid case back with a beautiful hippocampus engraving. The no wave high gloss blue or black dial is stunning and gives the watch a dressier appearance than most divers. It's a beautiful watch and a great value.

I would say yes, it's worth seeking one out, great value proposition, I am however very biased 😀

Gloss dial SMP ain’t my fave, I’m a wave fan. The earlier wave dial still rocks IMO. Here is one I am coincidentally wearing today.

That isn’t old school SMP though. This is:

We did a video review on it years ago, superb watch and excellent value, Cal 2500D is both durable and thin, makes it a great watch to own.

OF did video reviews?! More, please!

This thread led me into the rabbit hole. I see the wave/no wave debate is still alive (as it should be.)

The black versus blue also isn't settled.

@AustinStm, great discussion. It's a beauty. I also like thin and no waves. Blue vs black is tough. If you get one, it'd be great to read how your thoughts afterwards.

That blue dial is fantastic. Is the bezel black?

On the black vs blue dial debate, my recollection is that the background on the date window is BLACK on both the blue and black versions, so you may want to confirm that. I went with the black version. No regrets.

Let's see if the seller is reasonable.

It's actually a black dial and black bezel, the dial has great depth and can change colour depending on light conditions

Same here. I wish it also had the broadsword hands of the 2254. Those hands and the wave dial are probably the biggest reasons I won't buy a Seasmaster.

ETA - I love the bracelet on the 2254 too. Come to think of it. Maybe I need a 2254 😜
