A good friend of mine said that he had an old Heuer Chrono at home and today he showed it to me.
I dont know anything about Heuers but I realise that this one is much nicer than what he believes. Completely original as far as I can tell. There is a story about a naval/merchant captain being the original owner. The story dates the watch to being pre 1945.

Can anyone tell us more about the watch?
Searched for vintage Heuers and I come up with the 1960 as being more correct, but I am not sure what I should search for really.

    Thanks in advance
    Henrik

Will see what we can do about movement shots, the only watchmaker that I trust locally refused to do any work on the watch. Asked if he could help with the missing pusher, but he said no thanks.

Where would be a good place for a service? Impossible here in Sweden, not a lot of watchmakers doing vintage.

    What’s your objective ?

Are you fixing it so that he can wear it ?
Or are you fixing it to sell it ?

Advice would be different depending on your plan...

Its definitively a keeper, its been in his family since just after the war(WW2)
But he does not know much about watches and he just thinks its some old rubbish watch, although nice, hardly not even worth a service. It runs fine at the moment but I will advice him to service it and also insure it properly.

One of my few regrets as a collector was selling a project Heuer from the 1940s, for I think 250 euros a couple of years ago. It was an unexpected find in a lot that I’d bought for another reason, so just passed it on straight away for about the cost of the lot. Would have been a lot of work but great fun...

If he’s happy to send it to the UK he has good and affordable options. I think in Sweden the work would be more expensive.

Would two of those options be Simon Freese and STS ?

Both excellent as far as I know. Also there’s Mitka and Richard Askham plus a host of others.

I had been sending my autavias to Heuer's vintage shop in Switzerland for regular service or repairs. They are not cheap but can confirm with you in advance whether they have parts to service your vintage and how much it will cost. Good luck!

Will contact them, Heuer Vintage, and see what they can do. I think the cost is not an issue, my friend knows that the watch deserves a good service after all these years.
@#nb do you know if Heuer Vintage caters to the needs of vintage watches?
I understand that Omega replaces everything on a vintage watch with new parts irrespective of the value collectors put on the often old and worn parts.
It would be very sad if this watch came back looking like a re-issue.

I have no personal experience of Heuer factory servicing, but I’m hesitant to send one of my watches to them as there are some negative stories floating around. If you need parts that only they have (which is my situation with a dial), then I’d say give them a go. Otherwise, if there is no necessity to use them (your situation), then I’d use one of the independent watchmakers recommended above.
