By making unsupported wild guesses based on what I would do if I expected the watch to sell for 2800.
Yeah I agree, I was hoping for 2600 or 2700.......funny how the vultures came out at 10 seconds like me. Maybe next time?
This appeared to be an honest watch. I am not surprised be the price, which I think is on the low side of fair. I put a premium on single family or one owner items. I think that given a good set of photos, including a movement shot, and possibly not right in the middle of the holiday season, it could have got more without touching the watch itself. 68's seem to comand more and more.
Seems like an honest seller and a decent price for the watch. Not a steal, but fair. I agree. I have 2 with that type of provenance.
Come on Rich, show that horse timer again? I still remember seeing it and thinking how much I liked its story. Glad you got it, but give us another peek?
You think the tritium is still on the dial markers? Looks like it was cleaned even with the over exposure on the photo. Real smooth and the hour and minute hand look fairly new
It wasn't me. I wasn't involved at all with this one. Looks to be a nice catch for someone. Maybe next time Pete.
I can't tell a thing from those photos. I tried manipulating it in photoshop, but there is no color left in the hands or the hour/minute markers. Just white.
Well, perhaps the new owner will post pictures of the watch here but as mentioned, I think the lume is intact
I was watching this one too. I emailed the seller and he assured me the lume was intact. I have two 68's with lovely patinas but I can't take a picture that accurately represents the color of the lume for the life of me. My pictures always look washed out and the lume looks just the same and the one in the auction, pasty and white.
