Don't include us Scots in this 😉
You guys have had a much longer rift with them than us.
They're on the brink of secession too...

Okay, several more offenders:

- "to affect" (with an A) = to impact, have an influence, have an effect (with an E); "affect" which is a verb meaning to "impact" should not be confused with the noun "effect" which is the result.

- complement / compliment: a strap complements nicely a watch, it doesn't "compliment" it - to "compliment" is "to express praise", to "complement" is to "make something complete" or "to contribute additional features".
I have a sneaky suspicion Americans keep getting confused between the two because marketers keep inventing "complimentary" presents whenever you buy something or a service -- i.e. freebies given as a courtesy which people confuse with a complement.

- "movement working good"…
I suspect certain chronograph collectors just think it's cool say "working good" instead of "working well".
I have seen people write this who know better, for sure --except they drank the kool aid.

My wife's name is Windy, but often gets called Wendy. She just accepts it and moves on.

Too much trouble to educate people on the differences.

My wife's name is Wendy , but often gets called Windy. Mostly by fellow Texans who can't hear the difference between the two.

My pet hate is the split infinitive. I guess we'll have to blame Star Trek for that.
