A problem within a problem:

"I think I'll by this watch and than check with the experts an see if its original. What haves I got to loose?"

My bugbear is the misuse of "fewer" and "less"

Fewer is counted, less is measured. Come on, it's not that difficult 🫨

If their was only one priority; and you will be forced to choose between: spelling; grammer; or punctuation; witch wood you have picked.

Hmmm...I'm really not sure how to go about on this thread...
( It's tough understanding being a Non-American [emoji16] ) but i'll join in & give it a shot

Stick ---> Stickler

Noun
" A person who believes something is very important , demands exact conformity & rules of the game should be followed all the time "

Although generally easy going , @Superdoc is a stickler when it comes to Perfection in the House of Omega

You think that's tough? What about those poor unfortunate Americans not being British? ::stirthepot::

FIFY with more of the usual errors. Then / than, it's / its, and who's / whose are problems too.

You know, people could use "also" instead of "too".

syn·o·nym
ˈsinəˌnim/

Can we please all agree that you can draw water from a well, you can draw a sketch of a watch using pencil and paper, in the old West they had quick draw gun fights, you can draw conclusions about Dennis from his anti-Speedmaster fan posts, but when you find a watch in a boxlike compartment in a piece of furniture that can be pulled out and pushed in, and that commonly contains socks, that you found it in a drawer?

Thank you.

Cheers, Al

The thing that gets me is misuse of ellipsis.
People say: Ok... I think we need a new 'sticky', when they mean Ok.... I think we need a new 'sticky'
😁

And don't get me started on 'enormity': most use of 'enormity' is an enormity.

I used to annoy my sub-editors by putting an apostrophe in front of 'bus and 'phone.

Technically, that would be correct since both are abbreviated versions of the actual word they represent. Just one more example of how things change over the years.

Oooooo, that's one of my pet peeves too. I should have given the last yutz I saw do that a special avatar message, but fortunately that particular mistake is rare here.

.... unless it happens often in Speedmaster threads. I wouldn't notice then.

Were they annoyed because you used 'tick mark's instead of typographer’s apostrophe’s?

Found another:

Don't waist your time thinking about it, hurry up and put your offer before it's gone)))))

I know English is not the first language of many members, but I had to exercise serious self control to not make some type of diet joke. What a waste!

Well, I don't know if you ever heard about autocorrect that change some words when you are typing on the go. Plus if you know more than two languages, sometimes it is hard to switch from one to another.
Anyways, thanks for pointing out, I will edit my post.

You're fine - this thread is all in good fun. I just happened to run across your mishap.
