Ok guys I know it’s a redial. But I’m curious about the case and bracelet. I’ve never seen finishing like that. My first assumption was a recase. But the seamaster and waterproof is correct and not seen on fakes.

But the bracelet matches the case and is not marked omega.

Ive never quite seen anything like this.

I was approached by a friend and sent these pictures. I do not have CB or movement shots. What do you guys think and what could the value be?

I said gold plus $400usd... at first but I’m not completely sure.

Looks like the work of a jeweler, a fairly crude attempt at a florentine finish, the finish quality is nowhere near what would be expected of a factory custom. Quite possibly added to spruce up a tired watch when the dial was refinished.

Agreed, jewelers sometimes did this in the past to spruce up a tired watch, or at the request of the owner. This type of finish was popular for a time. Gold value + a few hundred USD is probably in the right range. It's not going to appeal to many collectors, but the scrap value is always there plus maybe some value in the movement parts.

That's how my "S" comes out every time I try to write cursive. 🙄

I just dropped off my friends grandpas watch to the watchmaker. It looks a lot like this one. When I get it back. I’ll try to remember to send some pictures.

There's a gold plated Omega for sale with a similar "florentine" finish but only around the bezel. Not sure whether the finish on these watches is original or not.

Thanks and neat piece 😀

The one you posted looks factory. The quality of the finish is much much much better. As for the one I posted the omega case with a matching non omega bracelet with the same pattern, makes sense that it was done to make the watch prettier at some point. Most likely at the time it got the redial.

As for the one you posted. I’m not 100% sure it’s an omega case as I’ve not seen that model, and I didn’t spend a lot of time researching it.

Being plated and having a cal. 500 it is nearly certain to be an US produced case. If it is genuine, naturally.

Foo, you know I love you Bro, but you got to get a Sharpie to redo those fonts, a regular Magic Marker just doesn't cut it.

On a serious note, is that case work done by hand? Some serious time there and I bet appeals to many's tastes.

lol yeah.

so I finally got the story on this piece. It was found in a wall space in a house someone had lived in for a decade. Also found was a bunch of pocket watches. Supposedly one is highly finished and has 23 jewels and say Waltham.... I’m trying to get pictures.
