I think that readers understand well your reluctance to admit that you were wrong. No need to dig any further.

Wrong about my own experience? Whatever... your pedantry is as impressive as it is unpleasant. If you want to call people out on statements of opinion that by whatever turn of phrase may sound like fact - which in this case is just absurd, given the statement in question - I can't stop you. Enjoy

Google 2254 18 jewels revisited.
Many thanks. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. In the short viewing time available, I dismissed it as a potential iffy redial, having not seen anything similar before. Specifically the chronometer script.

At least I got this as a consolation prize, tucked in a box of children's clocks. Bidding against the same guy who got the Omega lot. Great little local junk auction, no online bidding etc. So only against those in the room, rather than the the world and his dog on the web. Few and far between these days.

Foo2rama, that GMT-Navigator looks great. I bought one on another site that had a bunch of beautiful photos of the exterior, and I relied on them. I had been searching for one for ages without success, so acted impulsively. It arrived, looked great, movement was total rubbish. Seller went walkabout, so it became an object lesson for patience. Luckily, I found another, all original and beautiful It's now at KVW in the queue for a complete service. I know that I will enjoy it when it returns (next year, I believe), and the lesson will not be forgotten. Buy the seller!
