    Hi Guys

I just pulled this out right before the junk box stuff..... got this watch years ago.... I know the bezel is later replacement DN90.... I just found a old DO90 in my last thread.... maybe swap it out...

Never checked movement against "modern" references like speedy101.... serial number is in proper range...
    has the proper clutch bridge..

caseback is also nice, has proper bevels..... I have seen examples of the 2998 witrh the case back so over polished it looks lit its melting.

    Good Hunting

    Bill

Interesting colour to the lume. Almost looks more like tritium then radium.

Is there a consensus as to whether the later 2998's such as the -6, -61, -62 had radium or tritium? I always assumed all 2998's were radium.

I know you have been posting good stuff about Omega’s for years Bill but sadly I didn’t see it as I was engaged elsewhere. What I am seeing recently makes me want to seek out your earlier stuff. Thanks!

I believe the general consensus is that the switch to tritium happened at or around the -6.

    Hi @padders

Thanks . Well I was a mod for many many years at multiple site since the 1990s .. watchnet, TZ. Purist and here ....

The sad part is a lot of the photo links are broken due to Photobucket ..... on the good side more people have come into the community since then and I am more of the old guard ..... along with Chuck Maddox who was A close personal friend of mine ....

    Enjoy

    Best

    Bill
Ps I still have an Ed white somewhere ....
Not sure if that also has a later bezel can't remember .

    Hey Bill!

It’s apparent from talking to you and from posts on this forum that you have accumulated several, maybe many, museum quality pieces (white dial Railmaster is just one that comes to mind!). I would love to see your collection of Omega’s posted/archived on this forum.

Not only have you acquired some very impressive watches, more importantly, you have accumulated a wealth of knowledge that needs to be shared and preserved! Is there any possibility of posting here or have you considered some form of publishing articles?

    Regards,
    Keith

When I grow up, I want to have a junk box with a forgotten 2998-6. Sure you haven't got a white dial GMT rattling around in the box too?
;) (in lieu of the insanely jealous emoji)

I think at this point if Bill pulled a Tasmanian Tiger out of his drawer I'd still not be surprised, he's got some deep assed drawers that's for sure!
