Found this on a Facebook post. Wouldn't want to be the guy who spent the extra seven quid for the Seiko
If a very early digital Seiko, might that not be worth quite a bit now? (I'd still infinitely prefer the Speedie...!)
I have a similar but not identical early Seiko digital and would definitely consider straight up trades for the Speedy. I'll even take one in poor condition, because that's the type of guy I am....
I use to see Omega's on ebay where companies gave to their employees and think wow that's a really nice really expensive gift. But when I see these ads from way back, it seems some what more reasonable for that time.
Back in 1990 I knew a guy who received a presentation watch on his anniversary with the company he started working for right out of high school. It was a gold filled Pulsar P2 LED. His co-workers, many who received Omegas on their anniversaries, were envious that he got that Pulsar. After the presentation everyone gathered around to watch the digits light up. That was in 1972.
this goes to show that any speculation could be right or wrong. so buy what you enjoy wearing and dont care about future value
I remember that at the time, even as a youngster. Digital watches were THE things to have - initially LEDs, then those being replaced by LCD which in turn made the LEDs yesterday's news. Suppose that should have told us where things were going!
