I would not be dismissive of a GMT or any watch based on the quality of the provided pictures. Additionally, regarding the price, I don't think you can find a 1675 under $10K without replacement parts. This watch seems to have a lot going for it, nice hands & dial, and decent case which needs further research. If it were me, I would spend a little more time in sorting out the reference numbers and the movement to make sure it's period correct.

As for the insert, a proper red-back can be had for ~$1,000 and you could potentially sell the blue-back on it currently for ~$500, so the net outlay is not as bad as it sounds. Maybe I'm being too rational and sober about this....but worth a second look.

Happy hunting!

I actually think its a pretty good piece for its price. he's asking for 8600-8900 USD for it.

hmmm, id say no since you arent particularly keen on a gmt atm according to your previous statement. also sourcing an appropriate bracelet will come at costs

In regards to the watch in question, if the case is ok and the dial/hands check out, then I think your watch and say $1500 would be pretty sweet...figuring you will need to source a red back. Bracelet...well, that is up to you.

The GMT in general is a killer watch, and one that I like far more than a 16600 or even my 1665...which I sold to get a GMT.

We are talking general market conditions, and not the exceptions...yes one can find them blow $10K, requires a bit of patience and know-how as to where to fish ;-)

Was joking...100% agree, most sub $10k offerings have some serious apologies.

Crazy that just a few months ago this wasn't the case, especially for 16750.

They are crazy hot at the moment, and I would take a GMT over and SD any day of the week, granted, if it has all the right ingredients.

The OP watch has a lot going for it. I'd check out the lugs real close as the pictures don't tell the whole story. The angle of the pictures are not great, you'd need a angle shot of each lug versus a head-shot.

And it also needs a serial check and a movement check.

Even sober.... and yes with a slight headache, I still think that the we are comparing a good SD example against an average 1675. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s pretty, but my advice would still be: if searching for a GMT, to pay a little more for a better copy. If GMT is not a preferred model ( as stated) then The only reason for this trade is the investment value of the gmt versus the SD, and I think this particular one is not that much of a good investment because you’ll probably get out of it what you’re putting in or a bit less depending on what the serial and movement reveal.

Bare in mind the SD comes with original bracelet, box( I think) vetted by HQ Milton and has a nice ghosting bezel that looks original , the gmt that we know so far has a replacement bezel, the wrong bracelet, seems polished ( not a big deal) and we simply don’t know what the serial is, service history, movement details.

So as it stands my sober mind agrees with my drunk mind.

If things change with the movement and serial info then... things change

You and my wife have that in common. Which is why I like to get her drunk.
