Mad Dog, I covet your wheels! They possess the "look" I want. Sort of like the old Cragar Super Sports which can't be had for our car because of its brake design. Since we got a Dodge Challenger back in May of last year Mrs. noelekal and I have been in disagreement over the wheels provided as a part of the "Blacktop Package." She likes the look. I think it looks cheap and nasty. Can you imagine how much better the Challenger would look with your wheels? Yummy!
An early car I had was an Audi Quattro 4000s, charcoal with tan leather. AWD with front and rear diff locks you could engage and disengage right on the center consul. I don't have pics, but these are from online. Fun car, used to take it into the beach, snow, dirt, etc.
My second car was a 1959 TR3-A. I paid $500 for it with a seized motor. I had to drive the pistons and cylinder liners out with a large piece of wood. It had holes in the floor and when it rained, water splashed up on to my lap. My car was racing green as well, but it never looked like this one unfortunately. When I went off to university it was sold for a VW Beetle, but that's another story (East LA, Ca).
The FORD was so happy to be wearing its special chip protector after the 66SS - 396 came out and it got a face full of gravel.....
In my relatively short 46 years on this earth, I have never seen that dig at Ford. I have family members that are going to be receiving this picture for years...
Yeppers...in my relatively short 55 years on this earth, I’ve never seen that either. What has been seen cannot be unseen. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Dude...$5 says you’ve got a wheelbarrow full of those and you throw them at Ford dudes at car shows and cruise events.
Yeah...I bet! Also, since we’re equal opportunity offenders and hecklers, has anyone heckled @Canuck for being an AMC guy yet?
I don't think he needs any heckling. Have you ever tried getting parts for any AMC? It is like finding a needle in a haystack, unless it was one of the licensed for use by AMC products like engines. Like the big block Fords in the AMX/Javelin cars.
Not the actual car, but completely identical. 1965 Mustang, 289 4speed convertible blue. sold it in 1975 for $100.
Having grown up in a Rambler/AMC family, I believe AMC V8s, including big blocks used in the AMX and Javelin (390ci and 401ci) were actually AMC designs....just sayin'.....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_V8_engine
AMC built their own V-8s. For a short time, they used Packard V-8s until Packard welched on a deal. When that happened, AMC designed and built their own V-8 which was more powerful than the the Packard engine they had used, and it was 60 pounds lighter. AMC guys have gotten accustomed to being heckled! To go through what you have to go through to keep a 40+ year old car on the road requires dedication. Regardless of who built it! I honestly don’t see what @Mad Dog sees in his Bullitt! You all can have your carbon copy look alike iron from the Big Three. I’ll keep my AMC!
It appears you are correct about the 390 being AMC in house motor. Uncle told me for years it was a Ford motor used by AMC and I believed him. The AMX-perience.com has a list of parts that will interchange, if that helps.
