    Hi everyone,

I just purchased this gold genta cased Polerouter but noticed something odd about the back. It looks like a snap on back that’s not original to the watch?

    thanks

    Julian

I think it is a gold plated case, not solid gold and yes, the caseback looks incorrect.

sorry I meant to say gold plated. I’m worried someone just tried to hammer on snap back instead.

Can see it very well as it is a side shot. However, it does not look right at all. If it is a push fit, the case would have had to have been modified as well. Please take if off and show inside of case back and case it its if possible.

I’ll try not to force anything. If someone did just hammer it then it may be very difficult to pry off. Might have to replace the entire midcase depending on the damage.

if it’s still threaded I guess you could try to grab it carefully around the caseback edge with an appropriate tool. Might not be screwed down very tight given the lack of proper way to grab it.
If it’s a snap back, guess someone went to town on the case threads. Hopefully no one was that dumb.

The mid case is so heavily worn it wouldn't be a big loss.

Really? I thought it looked like it had a decent amount of material but just needed a replating.

Are you sure it is gold ? It looks plated to me. Case back is steel !

Mid case should be threaded. If a non threaded case back was hammered on, the mid case will be shagged. Even if it was not hammered on, mid case thread would have to be cleaned up on a lathe. It is pretty much a lose lose situation you are in. Why not return it and get your money back as I can only see it as a parts watch without an original case back which is going to be very difficult to source.

I’m not sure I have grounds for a return yet since the Watch was being sold as is. I’ll at least wait and inspect it upon arrival. I think absolute worst case scenario, I would have so source a new case + caseback which the gold plated ones are more common.
