It really is strange this. I wonder who at Omega decides how many each OB get and how they make that decision?

Basically they probably look after a mix between your position on the waiting list / purchase history and then they think about the allocation at a country scale to try being equal

Surely you would expect a “special edition” watch to stop production before it is no longer a “special” edition.
Boutiques no longer add names to a wait list and the word I got yesterday is that many on the list are going to be disappointed.
My 2 recent buys.

It has been said that till 2025, 5 years or so it will be in production till the next anniversary (55th)?

And maybe boosting sales, from a brand prespective I do not understand why you permit customers to go to grey market insted of getting the revenue yourself this strategy of creating deasire for the brand do not know if will last, indeed this edition 50th Ann Snoppy the CEO of SWATCH said in interview that it wouldn't be limited edition just to avoid to have customers without the watch, as it was the case for the previous 2 editions of the Snoopy that were limited.

I don’t see a 55th anniversary happening. 60th would be the next milestone mark I reckon. Additionally, what would be the point of releasing a 55th if the intention was to ensure everyone that wanted a 50th got it? That would take years.

Don't see this happening anymore, A15 and A17 50th have been skipped and if A11 55th won't get a release 1 year from now that would confirm IMHO it's over for sure.

You are right in that point, the point is they have the intention to do so?

Well… where is the “aura” of special edition if they ensure everyone gets it. The boutiques I visited indicated cessation by year end.

Couldn't we think that as long as the NTTD which was released before the snoopy and which is à true limited edition (?) Is available then the snoopy doesn't have any reasons to be discontinued?

But at the same they, they said anyone who wants one gets one no? I think they were a bit too excited in the beginning and let something like that slip that they shouldn't in the communication. My thought is that it's not an easy way out for them to just stop.

My Canadian AD -- among the largest regional Omega dealers outside of TO -- wrote last week to those of us on the list to let us know that Snoopy deposits would be refunded with apologies. He said they'd heard nothing, still, from Omega at the latest rep meetings and could no longer commit to delivering them ever, at any point. They are offering decent discounts on any other Omega and/or a free NATO if the refund option is chosen, etc etc.

Sounds like Omega refused to provide any guarantees or guidance on deliveries of these and none has been received as of now. The Bond anniversary piece is also backed up, but there is at least a timeline with those.

One line from the email: "Omega has learned from Rolex -- Omega is not Rolex. But Omega does not seem to realize that it is not Rolex."

Good luck to those of you still waiting. Still a fine watch. Not sure I could have ever bonded with it after these years of shenanigans tho.

I still say, in the above case, the shenanigans was by your AD. All the ADs in my area refused to take deposits and told customers to go to OB from day one. They knew they wouldn’t get any pieces, not sure why your AD was different.

In Canada, as in many countries, there is one OB, and they stopped taking orders early. As in, a day or two after launch.

ADs were and are the only way to buy quite a few Omega models, including this one. So they make the rules -- or, at least, follow Omega's.

I've bought quite a few pieces over the years from this AD -- their customer service has always been top-notch. I have no doubt they were operating in good faith on the basis of the info they were given.

Did your AD also mention in that email that they followed Omega's rules and took deposits? Curious if they would ever put that in writing. We all have a variety of experiences with ADs. I personally am extremely skeptical about anything any AD says.
