Hi, I've just recieved my Seamaster in the post and the 'Swiss Made T' appears to be partly obscured. Any thoughts?
Could be a generic crystal (Omega or non-Omega) with its attached ring that's slightly off compared to an original one specific to this case model.
As this post already contains a nice close up of the text would anyone be prepared to say if they thought this was 100% an original dial?
There's only a small section of the dial here, but what's there is original, I believe, like factory original. Still, no way to know if the whole dial is appropriate or not without clear pictures of the whole dial and case reference.
Thanks for the response. To clarify I was asking because my local vintage watch servicer has called and said he likes what he sees in terms of the completely dissasembled movement for cleaning and the case but the only thing he hadn't seen before was that the hour markers are glued and not rivited to the dial. He did however say that the dial looked of exceptionally high quality. Here is the full shot...
There exist many Omega dials without the riveted hour markers (could be glued or welded on). Omega Vintage database does not say riveted for this case so I think it's OK. The dial looks relatively clean but is improperly seated in the picture above - there's more distance between the hour/minute markers and the edge of the crystal tension ring at the top right section compared to the lower left section. That's the reason why the Swiss Made T is partially covered. The movement locking ring may not have been in the lock position or something else. Check with your watchmaker to see if everything is properly locked, seated, centred and balanced. Otherwise, the watch looks nice. Enjoy it. Cheers, Tony
Thank you very much.....I'm breathing again now. No worse feeling in the stomach than you may have bought a franken. Graham.
