Greetings OF
Just sharing my new watch Omega Polaris Titane, a unique line of watches designed by Gerald Genta in the 80s, mostly quartz. There are other multifunction versions, chronometers and automatic mechanical options in the Polaris family.

This was a bit of an impulse buy, here on Private Sales from OF member @mswilks 馃檹. I admired posts on Teutonic Speedmasters by @cristos71 and others with similar aesthetic. The case is titanium with inlaid 14k gold with a dull brushed finish that I found irresistible.

This is the basic 3 hand watch with date, TR396.1121, and has 1441 movement with temperature regulation which is incredibly accurate, similar if not better than the Marine chronometer! A great post by @Deafboy is attached with a geeky scientific analysis of the timekeeping details and a lot of info on the reference.

The watch line was marketed with a young John McEnroe in iconic ad with his fist through a tennis racket. It was a good era for tennis.

The watch is very small 32 mm and thin, and with titanium it wears light as a feather.

I鈥檓 not a big quartz fan I have one other, a Hublot MDM Geneve from 90s with similar aesthetic which I seldom wear. As a gift from my wife it has a secure spot in the collection.

Very happy with this unexpected and different little gem!
