I shuddered when I read this on an Aussie "news" blog.

Is the new generation (X, Y, Z or whatever) so f*******g ignorant that they don't know what a fob/pocket watch was, or where most men kept it?

(Except for Captain Koons of course, but his wasn't a pocket watch).

Even AFTER the demise of the beautiful waistcoat (or "wesk't" as my grandfather correctly pronounced it), many blue collar workers kept their pocket watch in that tailor-made receptacle on their trousers/pants/jeans.

 

Hm. Seems like its time for a pocket watch. Perfect excuse!

 

Of course they know what a fob/pocket watch is. It looks kind of like this.

 

I remember my dear old dad keeping a steel pocket watch in that pocket but always thought that was just him...........growing up in the 60's & 70's it was the place to keep your small change (and still is now), it seemed perfectly designed for that

When you think about it, kind of silly to have 3 time keeping devices on me every day. Doesn't stop me from carrying a phone, pocket watch, and wrist watch.

 

So.... With 3 watches you never know what time it really is !

 

Hot dog! I've got a watch pocket in the right front pocket of my work uniform pants...might as well give it 'the old college try' when I go to work next...BUT...I can see that accessing the watch while strapped in the seat via the 5-point harness may be challenging. Therefore, I may have to double dog it and wear a wrist watch as well as a pocket watch...no problem...I have the technology!
