I'm curious as to how quickly we will see this installed on some otherwise ordinary Speedmaster listed with some ridiculous BIN price, described as "SUPER RARE" and "ALL ORIGINAL".

Well, the seller won't be lying. And "Pristine" as well. It is a nice bezel

I think it'll be half that. People who know this is rare will know it also fits a small serial range.

    No appeal for me.

About ten minutes after the buyer takes delivery.

I agree, it is quite nice but I'm just cynically guessing that someone will try to sell a run of the mill 145.022 from the wrong serial range with that bezel for something like $6k to some poor soul.

it is a nice bezel and due to its rarity I don't think it matters as all the bezels are interchangeable just a collector who wants something fancy. I personally love subtle errors like this which tend to add value then detract.

Unless it is bought by a mischief maker wanting to screw up the frankeners.

Where's the special "Calling The Mad One" light. It would make a nice side piece to his collection.

True but, as numerous members pointed out, there are probably thousands of Speedie owners who lost their DON during a service. Now, they want a DON back. The DON belongs on all Speedies from the 2998-3 to the 145.022-69; 10 years of watches.

The 220 bezels belongs on a small number of 145.022-69.

Recently, the question was asked by new members which of the two bezels were more valuable. The answer was presumed to be the DON. We shall see.

That's my fault. I thought, let's see what happens at £500.

I reckon it might go quite high, though as pointed out, it's too rare.

Hmm - I found mine in really great condition and correct (serial number correct 30'591xxx) for $ 2'600.-- (2'600 for the whole watch - not the bezel...;-). the 220 was not indicated in the sales ad - I assume the seller didn't realise it. So there are still some out there.

I must admit I have bid also. And I am just looking for a nicely faded bezel, doesnt have to be 220 or DoN.

Paid around the same for mine and even though it's in very nice condition, I thought it was a bit embarrassing to pay that much for a cal. 861, but if a 220 bezel is worth that much, I'm a little less worried about it :)

Lovely and nice creamy patina with matched hands......
I fall in love with this kind of dial ( with nice case like this )
:cautious:How lucky you are ? I will keep my eyes wide open to find these kind of dial and case and bezel
and........so one day I will hit on these kind of stuff.
May the force be with me................

Why is it ridiculous? There are too many dog bezels about. Crappy originals and generic service replacements.
