I served but I must give respects to a tank commander, Cpl. Charles Gualdoni, 173rd Tank Battalion, Patton's 3rd Army.
Landed in N Africa at 19 years old and battled Rommel's Corp, invaded Italy, wounded at Anzio, fought his way up to Germany until the final Victory.
Bronze Star, Purple Heart and others.
The best man I ever knew, my wife's father.

God Bless men such as these and let us give pause and honor their sacrifice.

Tomorrow is Veterans Day and we'll honor all who served in the military during wars and peace time. BTW, many people confuse Veterans Day and Memorial Day which is the last day in the month of May, when those who died while serving in the military are remembered and honored.

Thanks to all the Veterans around the forum and the world!

Less than an hour to go here in England. We will be observing the two minutes silence today and on Remembrance Sunday.

Thank you, veterans...young, old and deceased...for protecteting our freedoms.

A few pics from earlier today when @ChuckMK23 and Mad Dog (we are both 'semi-old' former U.S. NAVY rotorheads) participated in Veterans Day at Dunkin' Donuts and IHOP.

Obviously, we groove on showing off our Speedy Gonzales watches and 'PI Special' belt buckles (handmade in the Philippines). :D

    At Dunkin' Donuts...

I didn't serve, but I'm surrounded by family and friends who did, or are, or will ... my dad (Coast Guard), stepfather, sister, brother-in-law, and nephew (all Marine Corps), and son (currently Army ROTC at VMI). God bless all who serve and protect our freedom.

I am grateful to all veterans for their service and their sacrifice. Thank you for your service all you Omega Forums veterans.

Here are a couple of veterans in my family for whom I am grateful.

My dad. Summer of 1945 while his PCE was in at Pearl Harbor. He'll celebrate his 90th birthday this coming Christmas Eve.

Bryan, how proud you must be of both. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?

One thing for sure, your Son's gun sure is bigger than your Pop's!

    Hah! It is for certain.

The apple may not have fallen from the tree, but the tree didn't have a crop of fruit the season I came along. Good men both.

I didn't serve. They were flying that helicopter off the roof of the U. S. embassy in Saigon and stopped registration for the draft just when I was turning 18 that spring.
