This tiger snake (quite venomous) is peering through my friend's second floor window. Straight up the outside of a downspout and across the roof. You're not safe, even on the second floor.

You know how there was that radioactive cesium-137 capsule missing somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the WA bush, they found it but used hundreds of people to comb the area looking for it. The whole risk was that if someone finds it and exposes themselves to it over an extended period they might get cancer. Meanwhile that 1000km or bush in WA has probably 10s of thousands of western brown snakes, tiger snakes and so on that will kill you a lot faster than cancer will.

So what ? That is the Risk of beeing the Last Frontier. Many more people die from Fear than from Snake Bites/ Caesium / whatever else is around..... Had a nice late Dinner guest at the 1. Floor.... Must have smelled good

There was one in Florida a day or two ago. Went after the dog and the 85 year old woman tried to get it back and lost (her life).

I believe mosquitoes kill more people than any other animal on earth.

Nothing a .303 couldn’t fix.
Yeah they were almost hunted to extinction, but now there’s probably more of the bastards than ever before, out in the middle of nowhere let ‘em alone but open season on ‘em near civilisation……. I just realised what I said, nowhere north of the Tweed river qualifies as civilisation… so I shall have to rephrase that, and say nowhere near a populated area. ::stirthepot::😁

As a Northern Territory local, they weed out the stupid. They wouldn’t go hungry south of the Tweed river

I don't mind snakes and actually think they are pretty cool, but venomous ones...I call them a 'nope rope' or 'danger noodle' and stay well clear of them!

Possibly more than you wanted to know about Australian spiders.

The infinite Monkey Cage
is radio programme giving serious scientific topics humorous treatment, this one is very funny -- and I learned a lot of new things about spiders.

The BBC can be awkward about the country you're in, so feel free to PM me if they give trouble.

It's not just animals that want to kill you...

Blue gum? From what my wife’s family has said, those tend to be the worst for crushing you in your sleep. Telling me that just before we went camping on the Murray river didn’t help me sleep...virtually no spots that weren’t under trees...and it was 46 in the shade...and nearly as hot at night.
