^^We saw hundreds of those in Komodo last summer. They were all dried up but our guides told us the steer clear of them as even the dried-up tentacles can deliver a sting.

Great!

Just had a new brushfire flare up near the Canberra Airport that gave us a scare as it was moving fast. Thanks to the outstanding work of our brave firefighters, the fire was contained without too much damage.. though several areas were told that it was "too late to evacuate" and to hunker down. 🙁

Hopefully they get it under control before it gets any further South, hope you don't have to drive anywhere near it mate.

What's with those white pipes on the roofs?

Mounting rails for more solar panels? The panels already there seem to be attached to them.

Apparently accidentally started by Defence:
“Department of Defence confirmed an out-of-control fire threatening homes south of Canberra was likely caused by the landing light of one of its helicopters.” From The Australian Online.

One of my colleagues down in Gordon sent me these photos of the fire creeping its way closer to her home. 🙁

Not to worry, they're tiny little chickenshits. Maybe about three feet at the most and will scoot as soon as they see your lights (the ones we saw were nocturnal).

I got a great video in Raja Ampat a month ago of a walking shark and he was nice enough to pose for the video lights and even walk.

This is a shark:

Those roadside signs are usually about 3 or 4 metres (12 feet) above the road, just as this one is.

Think swim, is the new bushfire plan. 😉

Up here we have flood signs that go to 26meters
