Not all 321's are Speedmasters.....

New to this page and have picked up a 321 Seamaster 105.005-65 (according to the caseback). But have a very odd thing happening - when I select the "top" pusher that should activate/stop the chronograph function - it actually activates the time function (small seconds). I opened it up and part 320-1728 (HAMMER, MOUNTED) appears to be wrongly positioned and maybe downright wrong given the shape. Was hoping someone here might have some insight?

What is happening is that when you are turning the chronograph on, the watch is stopping, and when you are turning it off, the watch starts running again.

This could be for various reasons - there is a problem with the way the chronograph is adjusted, or the watch is too low on power from not being wound, or it badly needs a service. Maybe all of the above together.

The hammer is fine - looks perfectly normal to me.

Cheers, Al

Follow up, sent it in to a local watchmaker and now it's working great (not the 12 hour subdial, but that's a common mistake and they'll fix that). Got a new question though. What bracelet and endlinks go with this model? I have written down (no idea where I got the information) that a 1036 beads of rice with 11 end links would be appropraite?

Beautiful 105.004 here; nice score! An auction listing I presume.

Yeah it was listed as not working at an auction house some time ago.

What I like most is that the watch is still in its original condition. The case has some scratches but the edges are still really sharp. The movement was never serviced before and looks like new - it only needed a new mainspring to come back to life. It came also with the flat feet crown.

There are some small spots on the dial but hardly visible.

I was searching for a 105.004 for quite some time but I think being patient was 👍👍👍

I want to acknowledge and thank Member @Northernman for his knowledge and willingness to share while confirming a few details on this Lovely Looking Lemania 27CHRO ref 25xx.

Circa 1948

Nice mirrored bevels on the lugs, factory finish(horizontal brushing at midcase) and sharp line-angles.

Oh, and the dial/markers/hands are at least acceptable😁

Bonus: flick wrist changes color of dial.

WM said it was virtually untouched inside......and NO PAPERCLIP(homemade spring)

Really quite extraordinary, and from a historical point of view, much cooler than a 2915 Speedmaster!

And it made it to the US without an import code.....so "privately" imported.

Technically it is a Lemania 27CH-C12-T2-PC-AM-17P

..Reviving this thread, as I have just scored a 105005-66 😍
Lovely to see all the subtle dial variations..

WOW
That would be my dream spec, except that it seems the lume & hands were replaced at some point?
Which BOR bracelet is that? 1503?

Here is the one I had. I sold it in 2020 for the hopes of finding a similar one in steel. I am not a fan of gold plated watches. But no luck so far.

And for comparison, the 145.017 I recently bought as a consolation 🤣

Hands and dial possibly relumed but sometime ago as glow fades v fast..Don’t really mind for the price i paid.
Bracelet it came on is a 1037 with 570 end links..Have no idea whether this was original to this watch or not..Dial is absolutely awesome 🤩

I think these are tremendously undervalued and under appreciated. Lovely movement and aesthetics. Only gripe is sometimes the dial pits or blisters, also very common to Rolex dials if the same era.
