So I happened to visit a local bank where I've got an account to prove I was still alive as they hadn't heard from me in about three years ;)

The young guy who handled the ID verification (and incidentally switched my savings account to another, slightly higher interest account) was wearing a watch (d'uh). As we waited for the formalities to be completed, the conversation went something like this:-

    Me - That's a nice looking watch

Him - Thanks, I bought it because I really like the look of it. It's made by Fossil, but I'm thinking of taking it back because it keeps stopping - it might need a new battery or something. But if I shake it a few times it goes again. Maybe something is sticking inside it.

Me - Can I see it please?

At this point, he takes it off and hands it to me. I can't swear this is the exact model, but it's close

As you can imagine, some basic wristwatch 1.01 education was undertaken :D

Sorry, not sure I understand what the education was. Seems to me an automatic watch would self-wind if the guy led a normally active life. Why was it stopping?

Because he was a banker. Not a wanker.
