A friend of mine collects as well. When I got my red Coleman (which had never been used), he tried to barter for it. I also have the dual fuel camp stove which I love.

Old technology has its advantages. This type of lighting, as well as mechanical watches, would be unaffected by electromagnetic pulse. Good to know that if nuclear Armageddon comes to pass, we’ll still be able to see what time it is in the dark. 🙄

At least nobody would make a fuss about a radium dial anymore.

I have several oil lamps for when the power goes out here, which is often. None are as nice as the the one in the OP.

We had a power outage a couple of years ago. I lit up about six lanterns. My neighbor called and asked how I had power when the neighborhood was dead.

Some quick research suggests yes, with the constituents having between five and nine carbon atoms... pentane to nonane.

"Naptha" appears to be a category of petroleum distallates generally consisting of one or more of the above "-anes".

This sort of ambiguity with chemical names is why CAS numbers exist...

Tilly lamps used to our standard for camping in my younger days, would have been used for about 3 months of the year, kerosene was the fuel and I think the mantle is impregnated with limestone? Correct me if I am wrong.
Have a friend of mine that collects them, must have dozens of them.

If it's like Coleman and Aladdin, thorium salts.
