After spending about two hours at the OB and trying about every watch they had, I made up my mind. It will be neither of the three but the new SMPc. I did not like that one in pictures or at first sight in the windows at all. But up close it looks and feels just so nice and sturdy. Like a very beautiful tank! It is also not to big, as I would have expected and the black rubber strap is phenomenal!

I have to do the math if I should buy it at the bracelet and get the strap additionally but I will definitely wear it on the rubber,

I will return next Saturday and buy one. Thank you guys for your help!

Congrats! Choosing is the hardest part

Thank you. Yes but it was also great fun. The best experience I had at an AD to date. He made a new customer that day.

My first nice watch was an omega SMP 300, I would recommend the omega's > nomo's. When you decide to sell it to buy another watch, you will find it hard with a nomo's.

Now you can spend your spare time hunting the original three, especially that nomos. 😁

So after playing tennis yesterday, a neighbor let us know he had rented a wood chipper for the weekend, and once he was done we were able to use it for a few hours to clean up all the branches (and some smaller trees) that had come down over the previous 2 years. We used to be able to have fires for this and every spring several neighbours would get together to clean up the branches, take turns tending the fire (with hoses ready if needed), have a few beers, and at the end of the day throw some foil wrapped spuds in the coals and have a meal together. Fire regulations changed, so no more fires, so this chipper came in handy.

I was still wearing my Nomos...feeding the chipper...

Some video action...

Yes that was a small tree at the end, and even though I had to back the feed up after the video ended there, it did end up chipping the whole thing. I also had to do some chopping with an axe (I cut that tree in half), and wore the watch the whole time. Over the course of the day, it gained a total of 1 second. My conclusion is that the watch is definitely...

Cheers, Al

I think this is a more appropriate song for those wanting a current relationship with Rolex.

Oooh Tough call. I've always had a soft spot for the white dial Weltzeit, but I recently tried on both 41mm and 38mm ATs and I was very impressed with how they wore (more so the 38mm for my wrist).

I've never seen the World Timer in person, but I have seen other Nomos in the metal and they are very nice.

I can’t speak to the Nomos watch referenced, but I do have an Orion (prior to their Alpha movement). It’s as simple and beautiful as a classic 60s manual watch. Very impressed with the watch - one of my keepers.

So, I was at my AD shortly after Baselworld to get on the list for the new Batman. Since I have to wait a few generations for that one I tried on the Nomos Zürich Weltzeit - and fell completely in love! Such a beautiful, special and comfortable watch. Even my wife urged me to buy it.

Right now I have a Speedmaster, a Carrera and a Black Bay Red. So that Nomos would be the perfect addition to my collection. I am lacking a more dressier watch.

But to be perfectly honest, as nice as it is, it just does somehow not feel like that amount of money. I tried on every other (and cheaper) Nomos but didn‘t really like any of them.

So the new Aqua Terra caught my attention. Man does that one look and feel like a special and very luxury watch! Yet it is just not what I am looking for and would also only be an alternative, no addition to my other watches. Furthermore, despite not beeing bigger than a Speedy or Black Bay, it looked huge on my 7“ wrist. So I tried the 38,5 in blue but that looked like a (quote of my wife) „womens watch“ on me.

Another contenter, I have in the back of my head for years now is the old SMPc 212.30.41.20.01.003 in black. But when I bought my Black Bay I actively decided against that one. So will it always be a second choice?

What would you do? Choose which one? Or even an alternative?

I am looking forward to your ideas and oppinions!

For a dress watch try the Grand Seiko 37mm SBGW231, if you can find one. This is the best dress watch for the money, period. GS’s dial and the polished finishings are top notch. Next in line is my Aqua Terra 38mm blue dial which is more versatile as a dressy/sporty option. The AT has become my daily over a Datejust and a Sub.
