Mine also makes sounds while winding, but not like that. My PO cal. 8900 is absolutey quite in comparance.
Maybe this also part of the vontage style

Like others have mentioned, newer movements do this. I’ve experienced this with IWC and Panerai as well.

that said, the sound from your video is quite loud. But then, I’ve never shaken my watches so vigorously. Unfortunately, most watch brands don’t replace. Hopefully they will expedite your service request and turn it around in a couple of weeks.

I have an SMP with a 8800 movement. I only hear the rotor when paying attention to it. Nothing like in your video. Seems not ok to me... but I'm not a specialist.

One thing to keep in mind is that the material that the case is made from will have a large impact on the amount of noise transmitted. For example platinum and gold are not as good at transmitting sound as steel, and titanium is one of the best.

So if someone with a TI watch (as the OP's is) posts a video and someone else has the same movement in a steel case, the fact that the Ti sounds louder is not necessarily an indication that there is a problem...

Cheers, Al

Having now owned one of these, I can confirm it does have a slightly loud rotor noise. I'm not sure it would bother me on a regular Seamaster, but for $10k US after tax paid, it lends an air of cheapness. And then there's the crystal issue, so reflective it's actually quite rare that you can see and fully appreciate the dial. Makes me wonder what it would be like if it wasn't "anti-reflective" !!!

This watch is 👎

Interesting. So is the crystal more reflective than, say, the regular SMP Diver?

I don't know, having never owned another modern SMP.

The crystal has anti reflective inside and outside, i have two modern SMP and notice, the glare is not there. Speaking of which sent my Submariner to Rolex for servicing and being an older watch, they actually will replace the old style crystal with a modern anti reflective crystal which I thought was a cool afterthought bonus.

But anyways if you got it from an AD, ask them for an exchange since you should be well under your return/exchange window, even with the boutique it was 17 days from purchase to do that, so check with them, you might not have no choice if it’s that bad.

Having recently purchased a new SMP, I also noticed this compared to the PO that I had? Perhaps they reduced the AR coating a little to enhance the glossy look of the new SMP?

Interesting topic.. I got to add something to this by my own watch.

i own a SMP300 ( 5 months old) and if I tap with my finger on the caseback or on the front case / Glas I hear a Rattling noise.. something like the rotor is too loose ? Anybody else has this ? OP do you have this too?

and no it’s not the bracelet. Watch is on rubber currently so definetly from the movement

My SMP doesn't do this, although I have a trusty old Damasko that does. In that case it's the soft-iron cage -- not sure why an SMP would be rattling in that way.

Unfortunately some noise on 8800 is pretty common. I have had 3 SMP's (now happy owner ow polar white for more than a year) and I just got used to it.

My Omega DeVille 39.5mm, 2500D cal movement silver dial, purchased in July 2021 from AD does the same. It rattles if you shake it and rattles if you tap the front glass or case back. Omega watchmaker in boutique said this is normal and I did the same to many new models in the boutique and majority do this also. Thanks to Archer for clearing it up regarding ceramic ball bearings. We are lucky to have an authorised experienced Omega service watchmaker on the forum.

Thank you so much for this post.
I have a serviced (2018) Omega DeVille 39mm, 2202 cal movement silver dial (2006)
I presume they changed the rotor with a ceramic bearing one when they serviced it : I have the same « It rattles if you shake it and rattles if you tap the front glass or case back ».
So I wonder if it’s useful to go to my Omega boutique …
It’s a gift I’ve just received, the watch keeps time and power reserve quite perfectly, just this strange noise … I was afraid it were damaged during the shipping ! So probably not …

Your watch is ok, nothing wrong with it.

So I recently bought the NTTD from a boutique and noticed the rattle as well. (rattles when you shake, and rattles when you tap the front glass) Took it in to the boutique and they sent in to the service center. Just got the watch back 3 weeks later and no work was done to it, Apparently it is normal!

It is normal I have this with my 2500D also. Ceramic bearings are used that make a noise. Not all models of Omega use the bearings, just a characteristic.

My automatic Omegas had a similar noise.
