I'm happy with my Toyota RAV4. Best part is I have not had a speeding ticket since owning it (5+ years). When I had my other car, which I totally enjoyed, I often was receiving speeding tickets. My insurance went up and you can only do traffic school so often. It's much easier to enjoy some watches.
My family operated valet parking lots in Beverly Hills from 1941-2018. I had a chance to drive some of the most amazing cars ever built. Granted I only drove them for 50-100 feet, but at least I got to drive cars I would NEVER be able to afford. One stands out more than any other. In the early seventies Dean Martin would come in with regularity and owned a beautiful Stutz Bearcat. I remember the feeling of getting in his car and feeling like I was on the top of the world. Oh the joys of youth. This isn't his car, but this is what it looked like.......
My father’s Mercedes 560SEC is the nicest landboat I’ve driven. As nice as she is...she’s camera shy.
Current DD below is nicest I’ve driven. Honorable mention to several race cars Lola FF, VW Rabbit showroom stock car and Renault Cup Encore for sheer giggly fun
Owned / Owning BMW Alpina B5 Touring (608 Hp/ 800 Nm) MINI R56, JCW Championship 50 Edition Driven: T2 Pick-up, Wide Body (150Hp)
Nicest car I've driven: 2010 Bugatti Veyron Nicest car I've owned: 1991 BMW 325is. It was rock solid, never should have sold her.
I'll just take the easy way out and post two of my current cars, plus I was able to get both in the same photo. The Miata is fun to drive and the Caddy is just something out of a different time but no car beats it on the highway. Yes the Miata's front end is up, the throwout bearing started squealing so I'm replacing the clutch today.
I totally get that. At different times in our lives, different cars are ideal. Back in my youth I drove a Camaro Z/28, 1970, LT-1 engine. Just the kind of car a young gear-head dreams of owning. Today I'm loving my Subaru Outback 2.5i. Base model - cloth seats, no nav (but an LCD display that links to my iPhone), naturally aspirated for simplicity, and full time all wheel drive. It's urban camouflage around here. Outbacks are ubiquitous around here. Just enough oomph to pull onto a busy highway but really not designed for road rally type driving. That's ok because I don't drive like that (anymore). I'm enjoying the outstanding gas mileage and capability in severe weather. Rough roads (we got 'em in spades) are no problem. Dependable. Basic. Simplicity. That's my sweet spot now.
Well, I have to cheat a little bit... Nicest I've ever sat in- Nicest I've ever driven- Nicest I've ever owned (but not a car)-
Love the C4. I've seen a few in Los Angeles, but Alfa just can't seem to get a foothold here. Too bad.
Well if it's an older gentlemen (like me) who travels up to Beverly Hills then yes I've probably seen him.
Nicest? Probably an AM Vantage, loved the interior details, went like the clappers , had a serious discussion with Mrs Wiv about whether really needed both dogs afterwards. Owned? My current sled. Yes I know it's a blerk Gerf estate , however we can get both dogs in it and it's a terribly silly car when the mood takes you. [I haven't really been anywhere in it yet so no vanity shots]
No contest for me, the nicest one driven and owned happens to be my current DD... for me, nothing compares to an SUV capable of 0-60 in 3.5 seconds that can still carry 5 adults comfortably and tow a fair amount.
If you want a car that really comes alive at 5k rpm, try any honda with a B16 motor. 100 bhp per litre. No turbo lag because there's no turbo.
