I wish the answer to both questions was this beast

2002 BMW 540i Touring E39 series. Loaded with every extra available, essentially a Seven series vehicle.....👍

I bought it in 2009 but it had only 14k miles. A summer car in the Hampton's where it was originally bought and serviced. Service reports (summer dates mostly) showed yearly service and sometimes only 500 miles a year driven.

These pix sent from the dealer, I couldn't call and place a deposit soon enough........ flew and drove it 1000 miles home.

Production numbers/shipped to the US on these V8 Touring's were in the low double digits. Searched 5 years.

I put 100K plus miles on it and sold it 2 years ago. Fun to drive, quite interior, outrageous comfort on long road trips but a screamer with only a gentle push of the right foot.

E39 is still my favorite series for styling.

Nicest car I’ve driven was Scottie Pippens Range Rover when I worked at Million Air at Chicago Midway Airport. It was at a private terminal and I drove it from his charted Hawker back to the hangar. I detailed it for him and didn’t warrant a tip. He’s known as “no tippin Pippen” for a reason I found out. My nicest car is my current C7 Z06 Corvette. 650 HP of fun to tear down Florida’s smooth roads year round!!

Very lucky to survive that impact...911 is one of my favorites.
Cheers from a fellow Kiwi.
It was on SH2 just north of Matamata - to this day I regret turning off at Tirau instead of trundling up SH1 on way up to Auckland...
I thought there must be a Kiwi or 2 out there on the forum! Hopefully we'll have a little more room to move by this time next week...

Worked as a sales rep for Rothmans “Winfield”

I got to drive a few of the V8 Supercars over the years.

Several hot laps 😎 also.

Now I’m in 4x4 Territory so to me they are the nicest car

(when there is no road)

I’ll have to agree with you. I almost sold my e46m3 for one of the last e39 540 m sports. I’d prefer a 540 touring with the sport package over that one though. I still kind of regret not doing the swap. Esp with this view yesterday. Luckily it was minor.

From my models it looks very much like a Group C Porsche 962?
NOOOOO SHIT BRO, NO SHIT!!!

yup and at the time it was still a 1 family owned car lol. I had a chance to crawl around it right before it went to auction. Bruce Canapa picked it up and runs it now in vintage events. I believe he paid a few million for it.

Here is a video of Mark Hotchkiss taking the family car around Laguna Seca before they sold it. They where on bad tires for this event and the factory run Spiders which I believe won lmp2 the year before could not keep up with a 25 year car on bad tires.

I’ve got some pictures of it’s sister car testing at Willow Springs for the Monterey Historics if anyone wants them.

Depends on how long ago/what else is around? 50 years ago a Mini-Cooper "S" with decent tyres, real dampers (Koni), supportive seat, "Paddy Hopkirk" modifications and a 4-point harness was the fastest thing on the road. Jags, Austin Healeys? No sweat, get 'em back on every corner, the only problem was Lotuses, they got you on straights and corners. So, guess what.......

..... after a owning and loving a number of Lotuses one of the most enjoyable cars I've driven was a mid-1980s Mazda 323. 65 horses (on a good day) but it was balanced so everything was beautifully matched (but still need to tape over hand-brake button for snow). I also like Citroën 2CV because it could be driven pretty much flat out and you wouldn't be arrested because no-one noticed 😉

😉

1968 Nomad Custom with Turbo Fire 327. Had a 65 Mustang for awhile but it was about worn out when I got it. I gave it to a barmaid because her husband was disabled after being run down by a truck and she needed a car to get back and forth to her job.
Car I liked to drive the best was a MGA 1600 belonging to my sister. Great little car other that shorting out if you even drove by a mud puddle. My brother had an MGB that did the same thing. I researched this problem and found these have a paper insulating shield in the distributor , if it gets a tear in it the slightest moisture shorts it out.

I would have to say this one. It came to me in pristine, restored condition, but I took some cues from my watch-collecting buddies, found all the period-correct, patinated parts, and here is the result. I'm extremely pleased:

Very nice, but does it come with box and papers?

Sigh ... driven some but never owned any. I have a wife who actually ordered and had to wait for a Nissan Sentra with zero options, no air, no radio before we met. We are Honda and Subaru people with one Saturn in the timeline mix. I think my watches are a form of rebellion.

Honda S800, driven and owned and way ahead of its time in my opinion.
Great handling and that sweet little motor that just kept on going up the revs. 😀

Unfortunately as with several cars I have owned no images so this is borrowed from the net although mine was also white.

When I was a teen (Before Current Era) someone down the street bought one. Like a rat down a drainpipe I was underneath it as soon as I saw it and he caught me there. Little jewel of an engine with those four carbs. He did take for me for a ride in it and used all the revs, 8,000 wasn't it?

Magic 👍

It would actually go a bit higher than 8,000.
Looking back it was a bit crazy but a pal had a Lotus Elan and we would both sometimes head out in our cars just for a drive you understand 🤦 and the Honda was well capable of keeping up or on occasions outshining the Elan.
Different times and quiet roads.
