Very nice early compur in tip top condition. I love the dial on these early beasts and the other thing that is not too common is the early 386 movement. I don't understand why there is such a fuss about chrome cases !

Agree ... some of the nicest dials come in Chrome cases. I dont know why but I caught the crome phobia here as well.

I think in the context of 1h of 20th century, chromed materials were probably even considered technologically advance and on the higher end of the spectrum....

    STOP.
Please let people have their chrome phobia.
Otherwise some nice reasonable watches will too be priced out of my reach.

    ;):)

Let me help. The reason there is chrome phobia is because Eric Wind once wrote in Hodinkee chrome is a fragile material and should be avoided. So all of the American collectors buying watches out of their retirement investment funds decided it’s a « bad investment ».
    And they’re right, aren’t they ;)

sorry @Diabolik, beautiful Compur, congrats :p

“In Depth: The HODINKEE guide to buying watches on E-Bay.” It’s a good article actually. Now back to searching for ways to squander my retirement savings. :D

I think real enthusiasts make their own judgment and don’t follow “investment” guidelines. We have a full thread here of gold plated and gold filled watches people love to wear because they’re in beautiful condition.
And if they are cheaper because they are shunned by investors, let the investors do their price pumping, hyping and flipping on other watches.

I've also caught the Chrome fear, but i think it's generally due to me wanting some liquidity in the market. Regardless of how durable the material actually is, there just aren't that many buyers who are willing to pull the trigger on it.

Now that is a great looking chrome cased uni ...

    Looks great ...

My compur is on its way, heading north. I could not hold back! To my surprise, it come with the original register hands which is very good news. I am asking myself why the heck would anyone want to replace them ?
