The Omega Seamaster is probably one of my favorite lineages of watch icons because of the Seamaster's design variations and longevity. Over the past decade or so of my immersion in this hobby, I've probably switched my target "grail" Seamaster half a dozen times and I've also owned (some briefly) the 1st gen PO, 2254, and a 165.024. I'm at the point in my collecting where I want to add ONE Seamaster to my collection hopefully as a keeper. What would be your ONE Seamaster keeper? These are on my short list, in no particular order (photo credit to the internet):

1) Titanium PloProf
2) PO LMLE
3) Seamaster 300 165.024
4) Surprisingly the 39.5MM PO in Black Ceramic
5) Probably would NOT spend this kind of cash but the AquaTerra Ultralight

I almost forgot to add this super underrated contender. The 150th Anniversary Seamaster Professional in titanium:

I added this Seamaster 300 yesterday to join my Seamaster Agua Terra GMT.

Get the PO in black ceramic. It is so cool in person. You get a warranty and durability of a new modern watch. You won’t regret it. I only wish that I had bigger wrists!

Since you have already had a 165.024 and let it go, why is it still a grail? What didn’t you like about it? Otherwise, I would pick that or the modern iteration.

It was the condition of the one I bought, which was back in about 2018. It bugged me a bit so I ended up flipping it. The 165.024 has been on my list for about 10 years, but other watches keep getting in the way.

This 1950 2577 cal 351 was pretty much a grail when I bought it - closest I’ve ever got to a birth year watch I actually liked.

that is always going to be a problem with the vintage 300s — it’s really hard to find one in excellent condition unless you want to fork over a lot of cash or will settle for a Watchco put-together piece with modern service parts. And, the fakes are getting better and better every year.

Since you seem to want a perfect example and all your other “grails” are modern, I’d focus on one of them.

There is no one “grail” a lot of different people have a particular watch, model that they consider “grail’s.”
My “grail” Seamaster 166.028 is totally unique and a “one of a kind”, because it is the only one in the world worn by my father.
