Hello all, Just re-introducing myself to this most active and informative forum, have lurked for awhile and been distracted by other forums, have recently made a purchase of a black dial pie pan 168 005. This purchase was assisted no less than by forum member Desmond. I have owned a silver dial pie pan 168 005 for a number of years, and in fact it was the Omega's from the 60's which really got me into collecting watches. With time, my interest have expanded, along with my collection to include Rolex, modernish Omega and Panerai and some military chronographs. So enough words, here's the latest addition.
Welcome back Furse. Great looking duo. Can't have too many black Constellations around here. You may want to add an Avatar as soon as you can before you fall victim to Ashley
Wow, my own Avatar, this is my first for me on any forum, thank you all for kind comments and especially Ashley for setting the Avatar. The question I have is how do you edit a post?? The last image was posted by mistake. Also those with keen eyes will have noticed that my silver dial has the wrong crown, any one have lead on where I can source a decagonal crown?? thanks again.
Seriously though, these are hard to come by as Omega does not make or supply them anymore. You can keep checking eBay and watch source. You can place WTB ads. Generally anyone with a minor source for these guards it jealously.
They certainly sell a 4.5mm octagonal crown (their ref. 32005ST) that would pass all but the closest scrutiny.
That is one option, but I think as it is octagonal and not decagonal it would stand out to most omega collectors as incorrect. Certainly to anyone collecting Constellations. Most I know would find it unacceptable.
