Hi everyone. I’ve bin lurking thru these forums for few weeks now. But here is my 1st Omega’s.

received it today. Will be hunting for a strap as well.
Anyways. These are 32mm
Got them for $304.00 shipped
my main question is do they look redialed to you guys?
Dial seems to have some patina and fonts spacing/style seems correct. But still wondering.
Anything else looks off?

Regardless I’ll wear them around the way they are. But wanted to hear some professional thoughts.
By the way I’ve ran the SN and these seem to be made in 1958

pardon photos, these have bin done with my phone outside in sun. Guess I was hoping for most natural colors lol

Any criticism appreciated

PS. Not too visible, but movement is 471

Hi @ALI construction
I am Omega lover but by no mean expert. So these are my 2 cents.
To me you have got a deal for about 300 $US. Congrats and since you seem happy with this wear it in good health.
Good news: no rubbing signs of wear on casebak inside, cal 471 (honestly its the first time i heard about such a caliber by Omega)
Downside (pls wait for expert chiming in): dial is redone but not terrible, crown replaced, movement sercvice NEEDED.

Dial, questionable. Crown, abomination. If I remember right, Canadian case.

You didn't lose your ass. Good watch to wear. Get it serviced.

What’s wrong with the crown? I genuinely am curious?

Also I’ve bin looking thru “worst redials thread” can’t stop laughing at that one. But comparing with similar dials I can find online? What are the tells for you guys?
Dial does seem to have some corrosion marks, and small chips around the outside edges?

By the way thank for replies

That example is a service dial with a clover crown that might be a "close enough" replacement.

Just remember there are no absolutes, just shared experience and preponderance of experience.

Stuff happened 50+ years ago and they gave zero... consideration for collectors and enthusiasts in the future.

This is not a "worst redail" gator could be right, but to me the spacing in the letters in AUTOMATIC is inconsistent. It is subtle, and I am still pretty new. I usually error on the side of false positive rather than false negative on redails.

I concur, which is astonishing as they got the fonts damn near spot on... and then this error?

Thank you all for so much info.
wow I haven’t thought of comparing fonts. It does indeed look different. The M in automatic, spacing, the OMEGA font is a slight difference (mostly visible in the G.
And on bottom it only says Swiss instead of Swiss Made.

I also found via searches that by some, 32mm (small) watches are considered as Boy size. They seem fine to me, size wise. But the dual differences wow.

P.S. but what about the story's I read about many different watch makers in the 50’s and 60’s making dials and assembling these for OMEGA? Could there be any sorts of variation? Dial does look old indeed.
Small paint chips around the outer edges, and a few right under the hands, above Seamaster, and also smaller dots popping up all around, barely visible but they’re there when looking with magnifying glass.

Edit: never mind on fonts. There are plenty black dial seamasters with slanted M’s and G’s like mine.

but the spacing........
And just SWISS

oh well, what has bin seen can not be unseen now lol

You paid $300, it is a nice watch. It isn't highly collectable , but a very enjoyable vintage piece.

There were a lot of variations from the factory (we think) and it was routine to refinish a dial back in the day.

An anecdote: My father's watch had its dial scratched by someone whom I would love to punch.

He was always asked whether he wanted the dial refinished. He always refused.

The Croton watches were my parent's wedding presents to each other. His watch was his "wedding ring" and he almost never wore his wedding ring.
