Take your time…it is worth a few hundred dollars to spend some time on educating yourself.

The biggest trap for newbies is the lure of the “black dialed constellation”

First watch is from here 🔽 so tread very lightly

First watch is an incorrect redial and way too expensive.

Second watch looks nice and has original dial. I don’t care for the day-date with that particular case style and price is also quite high.

But then again, almost all watches in UK look overpriced to me.

OF is a global forum - @STANDY is in Oz and @Dan S and @gatorcpa are in the States.

As mentioned above, black dialled watches are a minefield.
Black dialled Constellations were a special order watch and as such there were fewer made.
90% of blacked dialled Constellations you will find online will be redialled watches - some very obvious, others less so.

There is no one place to find a particular watch and you will likely be waiting some time to find a genuine black dialled watch - and even then you will be in competition with a lot of others, so they sell at a premium.

The 168.016 you picture is nice enough but has seen some polishing.
"case original vintage condition - unpolished - small mini minor scratches but apart from that it looks like new!"
This is clearly untrue

Each to their own on desirability but this style of watch isn't as desirable as other Constellations and the day-date makes it less desirable again.
Both the polishing and the reference means the watch should be priced accordingly and that should be significantly south of £1000. (although if it has been serviced properly that does hold ~£200 value to the buyer)
(FYI - relative to condition and reference, in order of desirability and price - Gold cap, steel, solid gold)

Best thing is to identify a reference and style you really want and focus on learning all about that reference - you will then be better armed to choose a decent example (and by all means post here for comments)

You are welcome to check out the sales pages here. Though as a new member, some sellers will view you with healthy suspicion since we don’t yet know you.

We are a protective community for the enjoyment of the hobby. Wanted to Buy (WTB) posts are restricted to members with 200+ quality posts. Your message dipped into WTB territory, which a surprising number of people try to sneak through on purpose. Not saying that was your intention…
