    Hey all,

First post (woo yeah), so forgive me for being tonight's FNG :D

Love the network here regarding our beloved horological obsessions. Being new to watches and collecting generally, I'm trying to work out if there is indeed bit of an Australian and more specifically Melbourne network that I can tap into in order to start my Speedie journey? There are obviously quite a lot of righteous dudes from around the world who specialise in sourcing, researching etc etc but was wondering if there are a few go to people in Melb/Aus that I can chat to regarding getting a 145.022 Speedie.

Thanks and super excited to be here! :)

Most SPEEDMASTER collectors will keep to themselves when it comes to 69 speedmasters.

    MWO book
    and
    speedmaster101. http://speedmaster101.com/

Will be your best friends but ;)

Hey Achim, I have noticed prices are somewhat higher when compared to similar models elsewhere/oversees. You've confirmed my fears that there aren't as many out there as one would like. Oh well, wouldn't want it to be too easy right haha.

Thanks for the pointers Standy, the internet is proving to be an amazing source of information (and source of illness of becoming desperate to get one!)

I would suggest you buy a copy of MWO and then check the for sale forums here. You can get plenty of good advice here, regardless of your geographic location

Ok it seems I MUST get the MWO book, will do :)
Thanks, everyone's been great in offering advice which is just brilliant... do we have any Speedy specialists/dealers in Australia who source the beauties in the house? I know there are some great dealers from the States (I've been stalking their posts) but just wondering if we have any other gurus/specialists locally?
    Thanks again guys :D

If you're hoping to get a dealer in AU to give you magic pricing or anything you're out of luck I'm afraid, I get all my Speedmasters internationally. This is actually an Australian owned and operated site btw so I guess we are the Australian Speedmaster network or as close as you'll find one.

    What he said.

Unfortunately the only source in Melbourne are bricks and mortar shops with high overheads and few Speedies.

Nick Hacko in Sydney has them sometimes, and if you think his prices are high, factor in international postage, insurance, customs etc and he's not too bad (and he stands behind his product/reputation).

    Edit:
    Signed "JimInOzVespa"
300 GTS ABS ASR etc etc
    Nero Lucido
    Midi OEM Screen
    USA style number plate mount
Cool Vespa sticker on left shield

Awesome, well this isn't necessarily bad news, just makes the task more complex. I've seen Nick's prices, they're actually pretty good from what I've seen thus far, even better he stands by his reputation, I like that sort of confidence/credibility/pride in one's work.

    Excellent Vespa choice matey! :-D

Haha not me, I'm in Melb, and don't have a Vespa. I'm not even sure how that alias came about... But being in Melbs, you can get away with riding anything! :whistling:

    @sydneywatchguy PM is inbound...

@vinn2 sorry, sourcing meaning is there anyone who deals specifically with these watches who could either get one or put me in the right direction. Thanks for the warm welcome :)
