Living in a remote part of the world and spending most of my play time in a boat in the middle of nowhere I tend to use a gps and compass more than most. I have always been a keen user of back up maps and compasses at all times as you never know when the electric components are going to fail.

( when you want to fish the East bank of a remote river when you have been twenty directions to get there it's good to be able to work out where East is )

During a search for something else I came across a watch that had a solar compass and it immediately took my interest.

The watch was by Terra Cielo Mare the Orienteering PVD in Titanium
https://www.terracielomare.com/collections/terra

Technical specifications
• Automatic charge Eta 2824 movement with calendar
• Grade 2 titanium case with through screws and black PVD treatment
• Antimagnetic
• Solar compass function ®
• Back case with titanium medallion and blue PVD treatment
• Antiscratch and antireflection sapphire chrystal
• Two screw crowns
• Dial with turning bezel for orientation
• Waterproof up to 10 atmospheres
• 44mm diameter
• Numbered edition
• Strap in English leather, handcrafted in Italy, with Terra Cielo Mare stitches
• Italian design, Swiss made

Strap specifications
• Spring bars 22 mm
• Buckle 20 mm

Nato strap
• Spring bars 22 mm
• Buckle 22 mm

And we know how this story ends, with a parcel on its way.

Only owning it for a few hours a few stand outs so far..
Box it came in, lume and lightness of titanium and how well it looks finished especially the case and case back ( also wears ok for a 44mm)image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Few pictures of it on new SNPR custom strap

You caused me to look this up again and really commit it to memory. Yeah right.

http://www.wikihow.com/Use-an-Analog-Watch-as-a-Compass

If I need a compass I have two choices. Pull out phone and fire up compass app or pull out phone and google for instructions for using my watch. Either way I need the electronics.

You don't get no phone service in the first shot. Only think your looking up is sky half hour out of town....

Easy on this point hour hand at sun turn crown.

So if it is a heavy overcast day or night time, you have a watch that tells time?

Cool watch and cool (or should I say hot) work environment!

Only thing cool for the last 5 months has been the beer in the fridge ;)

That's all that matters some times.

Someone on this Forum pointed out this watch to me. Looks really cool, and fun!

The photo you posted reminds me of a work assignment I once had. To make a phone call or send a fax I had to hire a motorized dugout canoe and travel 20 minutes downriver to the local post office. This was before satellite phones, mind you.

Was me in your science thread when I had just ordered it. Yeah bit of fun but will use it 50km off the coast in a fishing boat mostly, and have more than once been heading back to a boat ramp and came to a river fork and taken the wrong turn due to the 8 meter tides and the 3rd or 4th fork in the river look the same.

I never leave town up here without a compass, fire starter and a knife

Where did you get a black one? Looks sharp!

I’ve only seen the green with yellow. How comfortable is it?

I always like this watch. Looks like the brands website shows them on hiatus. Coronavirus, computer virus...?

Must say without a doubt these are the best thing for tropical weather and comfortable beyond anything else. They get custom made to your wrist size and Fit a treat. ( No comparison to the cheap brand that makes something similar )

Went the Black Ops with Lume
