Once gotten onto this nice place, learned words like "pie pan" and constellation AKA "connie" and "cushion" see I'm not the slowest learner And now the poll who's in for cushion and who's for pie-pan? Maybe some detailing on the vote will help a "newbie" )
While there are some very specific Constellation dial/watch combinations that would be highly desirable in a cushion or other, and there are early model guiloches that are as or more desirable than a pie pan, in general it is going to be be a no contest situation. No definitive rule or choice.
Cushion cases are shaped like a sofa cushion. C-cases, which might be what the OP is referring to, look like C's facing each other.
Get it and thanks...don't think I've ever seen an Omega with a cushion case, C case yes for sure but not cushion.
There are quite a few - added a pic of a Seamaster Chronostop to my post above. Chandra / Sumarian bought an 18ct Constellation C-case from me a few months back too. They sit pretty nice on your wrist.
Gotcha. Older (ie: pre-1940) Omegas came in cushion cases. Might have been some funky 70's pieces too. They were. Both were too thick to wear under a cuff, and too gold to wear as a casual watch. Gone, but not forgotten. I'd rebuy either in stainless if the price was right.
From what I understand the 321 is getting harded to find parts for...I'm happy to know that the De Ville is an 861 then. Maybe a little easier to maintain, and a little less expensive to acquire? EDIT: Is the De Ville with someone on the forum?
Yes on both. Service costs are near the same, but parts are around. Not this one - an old time regular of WUS bought it. Can't remember his screen name. Might have been BACaitlin or similar.
Here you go Hijak. That same watch is for sale right now. The dial is gorgeous but the case is getting a little ratty.
Well, whaddaya know! The plating on the lug ends is a little more worn than when I had it, but the dial still looks good.
Do you think it would be in the spirit of honesty to amend "well respected watch forum member" to "well respected watch forum member, as evinced by having been banned on this forum"?
Let's be accurate then - "Well respected watch collector who's been banned from more forums than most are a member of."
