Hello everyone, My first post.. Cambridge, UK based. I am really excited about researching and buying a vintage Seamaster, i have an Omega just now, which i hope to sell at some point to fund a better informed Seamaster Purchase. I have a question Regarding a stamping on the rear of my Geneva's Case? some photos attached, its the 'S' stamping that i can not find. the dial also has no Geneva, a more informed collector, told me to research it as it may have been an English build? Any help would be very much appreciated.
I know nothing about Seamasters I'm afraid so can't comment in the watch itself but your friend is correct The S is for shackman one of the English case makers licensed by Omega Classically marked 9kt (very English) with OWC and the leopard's head London assay mark Hallmarked for 1970 Which ties in nicely with your 1969 movement serial number Hope that helps
It is a legitimate UK cased Omega. It is not a Seamaster or it would say Seamaster on the dial. There were generic non-series watches installed into the same cases as Seamasters back then so the confusion is understandable. BTW, excellent aging on that dial.
Thank you both for the really helpful replies! I'm sorry my English grammar is not brilliant, I was meaning I'm looking to sell this watch, what I thought was a geneve, so I can buy a seamaster! I really do apologise, as I know it's terrible! I'm completely over the moon that it was an English case maker, it makes the watch much more interesting to me. I bought it as the dial was so elegant, it stood out from all the rest in the shop display. A local watch specialist has just informed me it's worth a bit more than the £400 I thought it would be. I may just keep it now.....
Sorry guys, I'm not posting it for sale, I didn't mean for it too look like I was?! Genuinely asking questions to find out more. If I am going to sell it, I will happily post in the for sale section and stick to your forums rules, I have no issue with that.
