I just wanted to post a short message about how helpful the information I have read in this forum has been in helping me select my first luxury watch.....a gently owned Omega Planet Ocean 42mm with stainless steel band. The watch is in flawless condition and is coming with all papers, cards and original boxes. A very considerate forum member assisted me in identifying the movement as being the "D" version of the venerable 2500 series.

I am looking forward to posting pictures once my watch arrives and participating in the forum for years to come.

<--- See avatar for my Planet Ocean :)

Congratulations @boomer719 ! That watch with stainless steel bracelet is a bullet-proof beast. And the the cal.2500 makes it a little less beastly (in a good way) compared to the cal. 8500 version. I wish you many, many years of happy wearing and look forward to photos!

    Thanks!

I was able to visit an Omega boutique while in Miami recently and in trying on the new PO with the 8500 movement it is a pretty substantial watch. The 42 seemed to sit up pretty high and the 45.5 was just a monster and I'm 6'5" 240! I'm very happy with my choice and like I said before, the information here was very, very helpful.

So...now that I've taken the plunge....I do think that I will want a rubber wrist band for certain occasions. Is the Omega band the best way to go or are there other alternatives I should be considering?

I had the exact one your getting for several years...
42 is perfect... Proportions are just right... 45 mm plus is for paneristi only
Mine departed to help me get a vintage speedy...so be careful once the bug hits you....

I have Omega rubber on 2 of my SMP 300's. One with the butterfly clasp, the other with the tang buckle. If they are anything to go by then I suggest Omega rubber as both are very comfortable. They both have the fitted end to go around the case what makes it also attractive. There is an Omega strap available for the PO very similar to the strap for the SMP, with tang buckle. Ofrei may still have it on their website.
    Regards.

I had both the 45.5 and the 42 and kept the 42. Whish I kept both actually.

PO and particularly the 2500 calibers are pretty perfect subs. Arguably there are many perfect subs so let me complete that statement by saying they are unique and identifiable as Omega PO's You can't miss them and you can't mistake them. There are a few brands and designs that have that identity strength.

    Enjoy it

    Hi Big Guy @boomer719

Any chance you are a fan of the movie Battle Star Galactica ?

Asians like me were taught in the metric system so i usually have a tough time figuring out what the Americans are saying
Even the dates & months are in the reverse order..
Sooo...you're as tall as Dwayne The Rock Johnson ! You are....lemme see...
    1.96 m 109 kg BMI 28 Basketball i guess ?
    I dig you're comfy with 42
    Mine says Hi too..

p/s Half the fun is trying out all the strap options

My vintage bug is tied to vinyl, a 1967 Mustang fastback and 1978 Porsche 930 cabriolet. I can see myself wanting a vintage watch eventually, but it will probably take years for me to decide what to get. I've have quite a few every day type watches and just decided to go ahead and get a statement piece which will most likely become the first of a small collection.

Lol pretty much the same story for me. Except I passed on a 78 930 coupe 4 years ago. Stupid stupid me. I ended up with an Orange 3313 PO. Sold my 67 fastback. Just got my birth year speedy though a 76.

I recommend 42mm as well! I find the 45 too big... Unless that's the look you're aiming for! You must be happy with it when you look down at your wrist :)
