A pretty attractive watch I think, nice buy.

Is there any article on the varying fonts on these dials? (Maybe on Desmond’s blog?)

Most examples come with the second O in “chronometer” shaped as a 0.

There are three round O, not too round O, large star dials are a bit different from small star dials etc ...

And that is 167 and 168.005 reference.

Is there any way to date this watch to a specific year?

If you know the movt serial number you can get a rough idea of year of production - But not exact.
An extract will give you the exact date it was delivered ( not necessarily manufactured) and the original papers would give you the date it was sold.

The time between delivery and sale could be years.

This is why ‘birth year’ watches are somewhat ambiguous.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a black strap that would pair nicely with this watch?

Simple unpadded straps work best with vintage Constellations.
My personal preference is for completely plain or very lightly patterned such as lizard effect.
Hirsch do some good and very reasonably priced straps.
Here are a couple of .004s as examples of plain and lizard effect.

Thank you - it’s really helpful to see a picture which is much appreciated.

I will try and source a non-padded plain black strap to pair with it.

I have taken a picture of the movement inside my watch (used the Bergeron rubber ball to open).

Is it possible to date it to a specific year based on this?

Appreciate any advice.

Thank you.

I wasn’t aware you could search by the serial number - very useful!

I’m guessing you didn’t read my response to your original question above?

Apologies - I did see your post but didn’t realise there was a link to search by the serial number.

Thank you for your help though. It’s very much appreciated.

Now fitted to a black Nomos shell cordovan strap which matches quite well.
