Hi. I recently purchased an early 90s Speedmaster on a gorgeous strap. Looking to get the bracelet for it which i think is an 1171. Would you suggest that I only purchase the correct bracelet for that model?
My watch is a 145.0022. Thanks for your help.

I prefer the original look. Especially versus the newer Speedmaster bracelets. They may be more “solid” but I like the vintage feel much more. Plus if I ever see another Speedy “in the wild” it’s almost always newer and I enjoy having something different. Just my 2 cents

Congrats on the Speedmaster and for the time being you might want to check out "uncleseiko" as he makes some fantastic Speedmaster bracelets and very economically priced. This way you can rock the watch on a bracelet and take your sweet time finding the original at a good price. 👍

I have a 1991 145.022 which came to me on a 1479/812. I need to find an extra link to make the 1479 fit comfortably so swapped the bracelet out for a 1171 I had. Have now come to really like the watch on the 1171 and stopped looking for the missing link🙄.

I agree, the 1171 is a necessary looking bracelet.

With an early 90's I'd say it's dealers choice.

As above it likely came with a 1479 but personally I'd go with a used 1171/633 (with trapezoid logo) from the 70's as they're Better quality than the later 1171/1's.

It is. Have another Speedy on a 1175 which has a similar look but somehow feels more substantial. Mind you that is the original bracelet where the 1171 is a service bracelet from the early 2000s.
Have to say though, having followed the links above to Uncle Seiko and Forstner, a flat link is very tempting at those prices.
