Watch finally purchased! Couldn't be happier, though somewhat surprised the movement is non-hacking.
You spent a few $K on a piece and didn't know it was non-hacking? It sounds like an ALDI spec watch.

The thing about the tri-color dial is that almost any bracelet works - black, blue, brown, tan, bordeaux....

And Primero doesn't hack - never did. 👍

@sarir97

I had the Red Limited Edition El Primero and it came on the Zenith black crocodile rubber backed strap and it was very well made and comfortable although mine was on a tang buckle you can get it with a Zenith deployment should you want it that way. Alternatively if you want something outside of the basic colour options from Zenith I would recommend looking here http://www.camillefournet.com/en/eshop/leather-straps as they could well be the suppliers to Zenith of thier rubber backed straps. The advantage of them is that they offer you many more options of colour combo's and materials for you to choose from. Anyway congratulations on a great pick up and a stunning watch wear it in good health.

I stopped by my local AD and had the steel bracelet sized to suit. They will source the leather band and deployant directly from Zenith. I suspect north of $500 for both?

Its pretty well known that the EP is non-hacking, the Omega Calibre 321/861/1861 is non hacking also, so every Speedmaster Pro falls into the same category.

I didn't realise those much sought after Omega movements were non-hacking also, not to mention the -1~+11 accuracy per day? Now I really do think they are over-rated more so than before. I don't want one so bad now, I already have 2 Seikos that have those specifications and cost less than $500 each.

if the speedmaster is non hacking, is it then not eligible as a military watch?

Don't feed the trolls people.

@sarir97 congrats on the watch - you really can't go wrong with the Zenith. I'm in love with my el Primero Open (not the limited one like yours) - once it's on an OEM strap with deployment it will look the biz. I think Zenith needs to step-up their game as far as bracelet design goes but the current el Primero range deserves to sit on supple leather anyway 👍

I put in an order for the OEM clasp, but I'm having a hard time justifying $400 for the OEM leather strap. It's seems nothing special from the pictures. I gather it is lined with rubber, but so?

Sorry to discuss this in an Omega forum, but for those who own this watch with the leather strap, is the OEM strap so much more the "biz" that you'd replace it with another OEM rather than a quality aftermarket?

The Patek Philippe 5970, 5070, and the majority of other Pateks don't hack either, question is are they overrated against a Seiko too? 😀

Quarter of a million dollars, non hacking.

The real "quality aftermarket" like Camille Fournet or ABP Paris costs the same or even more. You don't watch to insult your watch with $10 strap, do you?
Zenith's straps, both leather and alligator are very high quality.

Noobie question but was is a hacking / non-hacking watch?
It is one where the balance is stopped when you pull out the crown.

Just to expand on this, some watches do stop the balance directly, why for example the part that does this is called the "balance stop lever" because it stops the balance wheel. There are watches that hack but it is not the balance that is stopped, but another gear in the train. Some watches that stop using another train wheel don't stop immediately, but will continue running until the seconds hand reaches the 12 marker, so they automatically hack at 12 and you don't have to try to time the second hand at 12 when you pull the crown out.

Many ways to skin a cat, as they say...

Cheers, Al

Both very cool. Suspect the Zenith will hold its value better though.
