That is just spectacular. Is there a cool story (that you’re willing to share 😉) to how you found it?

[EDIT] @BenBagbag great minds think alike!

Thanks all for the kind comments! There's no super cool story unfortunately. It's just a one-owner watch that the guy never wore and then stored. He passed away and the family sold it at an estate sale. I was able to research the original owner online and it looks as if he lived his whole life in the Detroit area and passed in 2011.

The watch itself is not that rare, of course, but the condition is ... almost like a time-capsule, especially with all the original paperwork, and that little white Omega box cushion that still looks new. I'm mostly a vintage Rolex lover, and I own a 6263 Daytona, but there's nothing like a vintage Speedy.

Here is the point, the pictures provided are from 1970 😁

That is one super amazing find! I’m blown away!

One question, how many links does a full 1039 bracelet come with?

The 1039 bracelet on this Speedy has 26 total links, with 10 of them the stretchy kind. The bracelet looks untouched, so I assume that it's complete.

Here's the bracelet fully open.

the superb new condition it is in after almost 50 years is indeed very rare and a showpiece like how we see it now.

After the euphoria settles down, I'm sure you've noticed the caseback gasket has turned to mush and the movement lubricant has likely long dried out. A basic service by a trusted watchmaker would be my first stop -- then wear it with pride!

That sounds about right. All 10 stretch links is the important factor here

Top watch of course, but is it be posible that the pushers are changed ?
On my (al original) Speedy the pushers are more near the case 🙄
Have you a picture or a link how a type 2 crystal is looking ?
Thank you

The pushers are original, the tall kind. The watch was never serviced. Positioning probably has more to do with the angles in the photo. Also, this watch was rarely used, so it makes sense they would stick out a little more.

The type A2 crystal is detailed in the “Moonwatch Only” book. I’ll try to capture it in a photo. It’s tough using only an iPhone.

there is nothing like a Speedy... but I also have the kool-aid icon as my avatar. 😀

Nice pick up. Did you actually buy from the estate sale? I think we all dream about finding a gem like this one.

Well, the watch was rarely used, but it was worn a little back in the day, and it must have taken a little hit on the bezel at that spot. When I got it, it wasn't that bad, and just a tiny bit of black paint was missing there. But then I lightly wiped it thinking it was dirt, and a little more of the black paint flaked off. Oh, well.

The top push does appear to be sitting out a little more than the bottom.
