I assume the guy in the shop did it. Can it be wound now once it is working or have i missed my chance
You'll have to wait till the next solar eclipse to wind without issues😀

Never assume the shop wound it up completely before handing it to you. It can be wound anytime, just take it off and wind it up about 60 turns (you can't overwind it). Then put it on and monitor the rate over the next few days. If it is still gaining at the rate you are now experiencing it needs an intervention, quite possibly a tangled or sticky hairspring as previously mentioned.

I am sure there are at least hundred vids on YouTube “how to operate and wind your watch“.

RTFM! 😉

Or there appears to be something seriously amiss with this watch - have the shop check it out (and/or replace it)

...even my Rolex doesn't change the date until 12:04am.

Must not be a DateJust because mine changes right on the hour - that's the hallmark of the reference,

My El Primero changes at 11.55, give or take a minute. Doesn't bother me as I don't need to know what date it actually is at that time.

All

Bought a brand new Seamaster yesterday and over a 24hr period it is running about 3 hours fast.

Is this normal? Does the automatic nature need breaking in or is there a fault
Can you provide more details? What’s the watch’s reference number (should be on warranty card)?

I find that really hard to believe. A three hour deviation is ridiculous. If this is really a “brand new” Seamaster, it should come with a Master Chronometer movement that is both COSC/METAS certified and has superior anti-magnetic properties. My 8800 PO is +2 s/d, for example.

Additionally, if this is a “brand new” Seamaster, it likely came with a 5-year Omega warranty. Take it to your local OB. We really can’t diagnose or regulate your watch over the internet.

If people can diagnose and treat the 'Rona with horse dewormer over the internets we can totally fix his watch, no problemo!

😁😜🤦

Most of my 50+ year old watches change sometime between the third Grand Marnier and the Ambien- don’t really notice when.

I would guess same goes for most of your watches below 50 years old.

It was all done and set in the shop. How do i wind it myself
Stephen, did your salesperson at Goldsmiths not show you how to unscrew the crown and wind the watch, then screw the crown back down? Change the date, set the time etc? Sounds as though you're new at this, you'd think they'd accommodate you with a tutorial at point of sale.

Possibly magnetized.

Not a hope, these new Omegas are anti magnetic, at least according to their blurb.

Assuming the OP actually bought a new modern Seamaster and not a NOS model, or something completely different that the store passed off as new. We're missing tons of info here lol.

1. Read the manual
2. Wind your watch fully
3. Set the time properly and make sure the crown is pushed in and screwed down.
4. Give us more information, at least what model the watch is. Even a picture of the watch would be helpful.

OP, read the manual or go on line and see how to wind, adjust, set your watch.

Once you have wound, adjusted and set the watch wear it for a day or three and see how it performs, if not accurate back to the AD for a replacement.

I want to reiterate for the record, there are no stupid questions in watch collecting. Even as a veteran watch collector, I screwed up the day/date mechanism in a 7750 becuase I didn’t remember to make sure the time was below 3/9 🤦. Now the day flips at midnight and the date at noon. Into the watchmaker it went.

When I read threads like this, I wonder how some people managed to reach their adulthood.::facepalm1::
