Just saw this on Omegas Instagram feed. https://www.omegawatches.com/watches/seamaster/diver-300-m/commanders-watch/product/
That is just plain fugly From the link "It is entirely plausible that Commander James Bond would have been issued with an OMEGA watch." No it isn't you idiots: A) He is fictional B) In the books he wore a Rolex. C) He is fictional
Amazing how Omega steered so far away from the Spectre watch which was such a hit. This just seems like a waste of everyone's time. But I'm bitter and not a fan of the Seamaster Professional in general.
Oh I don't know. It's "limited" to 7007 pieces so it's bound to become a hard to find collectors item just like the FOIS.
I just wish the speedy Tuesday was limited to 7007 pieces instead of this piece of crap that will be sitting in boutiques for the next several years. Maybe I'm just still bitter because I live in California and missed out on reserving one .
Seriously, who lays out thousands for a watch with "007" incorporated into the second hand? Without it I can see the appeal of a white face 300m for the more sporty types, but with? Just no.
Bond worked for the SBS. SBS was issued with Omega for most of the years Bond would have worked for them. He wore a Rolex because Ian Fleming wore one, not because it's accurate to the era.
"suave and stately". I do find the date wheel rather interesting. Could be a fun mod in the future - but that's the collective appeal for me. EDIT: The white ceramic dial is a nice touch too and I bet it looks a million times better IRL. Also, the box is funky and the gold edition is too. Still a solid "no thank you" from me.
Remove the red quarter bezel, gimmick second hand and the horrid NATO and I could quite like that... potentially. Probably not enough to buy it still.
Source? SBS were and still are recruited primarily from within the Royal Marines. Bond was a Royal Navy officer not a Marine, Commander is a Navy rank after all. The RN Submarines officers were actually issued mainly with Rolex Subs (funnily ebough), it was the marines, soldiers and RN divers I think who got the SM300s. We are splitting hairs, it is fictional after all but who doesn't love a good argument!
I wasn't a fan of the original... so this still doesn't do it for me. Sure that lots of people will hand over the cash though...
Interesting concept, but like others mentioned, the "007" counterweight makes this a hard pass from me. Though I kinda like the dial, bezel and the inclusion of the bracelet.
