You don't know many Brits? Oh, we have turf farms where I live too. Another word with many meanings, turf. Shame to see our sod being shipped out, nearly down to the clay now.
Shady people will want to sell here to scam someone out of money and disappear. With how great this community is, the chance of that happening is pretty slim. What really is likely to be the case is fee avoidance. Peruse the sales and look at the prices of some of the watches. Now put that onto chrono or eBay and imagine the fees the seller will be faced with afterwards. The 200 post is to prevent someone from coming here to sell and leave all for the sake of avoiding fees. As others have said, this forum isn’t a platform for sales. It’s a platform for learning with an added benefit of being able to sell to likeminded people. You say the prices aren’t the most lucrative... again, this isn’t chrono, eBay, or Etsy where people either are dealers flipping for the highest profit, individuals seeing those dealer prices and think they too can make that (uneducated-ly - I know not a real word), or people thinking what they have is worth the price of pure gold (when likely it’s not). What you see on this forum is accurate pricing (for the most part) with a sprinkling of a deal here and there. You aren’t likely to pull one over (price wise) on the members here as you’d be called out and embarrassed in front of all to see. Largely the pricing is honest and when it’s not, it will sit and sit and sit unlikely to be sold. To conclude, this is a platform of a great wealth of knowledge with a small side benefit of being able to privately sell in a safe manner.
The etymology of the word sod is interesting. The form used in the sense ‘poor old sod” derives from a the word sodomite, in a similar sense to “silly bugger’. Just what did they get up to on that farm?
2 others I was thinking of: "Take some pics of the UV light Look at the lugs closely wich ref is the bracelet hands are serviced and that's seems a bit pity when looking for a vintage. Patina index doesn't match the hands so it is your decision at the end but keep that in mind." "I bet for a Snoopy pricing around 10k or more unfortunately. That will depend of course of the use of white gold or other metals... Omega is changing is category and trying to be closer to Rolex's prices but with much more fun and research/developpment. Will be a bit disapointed if the next snoopy comes at 10k or more when you know that the last one was around 7k that seems to be a big gap... Waiting for the 5th to get some answers..." At least not one line posts so big improvement considering the past.
I think you may be reading this particular fella the wrong way round. I completely agree with your views, but I've a feeling he does too! Perhaps he meant "hustle" not hassle...
