Do you know how to wind a Speedmaster? I don’t think it’s ever been asked here before. Am I even asking in the right thread?

 

When I started posting here, I had just discovered there was a community of watch geeks like me, I was on medical leave from work and was feeling very depressed and lonely and this place became a welcome distraction. So I get the diarrhea of the keyboards and always try to reserve judgement. It’s the one word responses and resurrection of ancient threads that are the tell-tale to me, but the mods already have their algorithms in place for sniffing it out.

 

I came across that thread. The question sounds hysterical on the surface, but I see where the guy was coming from.

So, I finally hit 200 posts.
I started on June 25th and hit the threshold by July 20th.
I thought it would take me 3 or 4 months to get done.

I don't have any watch to sell and I don't have any desire to comment on any of the "for sale" threads, so I'm in no hurry for the administrators to turn that feature on for me.

During this month, I didn't sell any watches, and, much to my wife's anguish, I actually bought yet another watch (Gemini IV Speedy Pro).

In hindsight, I think the 200 post requirement is both fair and very do-able.
There are dozens of general interest threads to post in, including cars, art, vacations, art, sarcasm, pets, NASA, music records, clocks, motorcycles, foreign travel,what watch you're wearing today, what you are listening to today, etc.
At least 30 of my posts were low-quality filler kind of stuff, so I have no problem if the site administrators want to subtract some.

I enjoy this site and like the open and honest feedback that is provided.

At this point I have 201 post and 564 likes. I was hoping for a 3:1 ratio of likes to posts, but I'm happy where I ended up. "Likes" aren't too important in the grand scheme of life IMHO.

Congrats! I have over 5k now apparently (holy crap!) and I have only sold one watch and that was for a charity drive. I was accused of post farming early on, I was just excited to be a part of the gang.
Now when you get to the 20k mark the secret section opens up to you- I think there are only 2 or 3 guys in there with arthritis and they apparently don’t like each-other so conversation is sparse ...but we all have to have goals.

I’ve always admired @Alpha’s ratio, 12,000 : 80,000, of posts : likes.

Number 6 in the all-time list of posters but so far out ahead in 'likes' I doubt he’ll ever be caught.

 

your ratio is about 8.5 likes/post which is one of the higher ratios on here. That’s pretty darn good
