So i've dipped my toe in the SM300 pool! What do you guys think? Any thoughts and have I missed anything?

I'm obviously now hunting a tritium bezel and hand set(hence my earlier post)..although in the mean time I may get these hands aged.

To my untrained eye..dial looks great with a very nice aged patina. Case is very clean with sharp bevels and looks mainly unpolished. Case back is really nice with a very clear hippocampus . 552 movement with 24mil serial dating this to '67. Replacement service crown. Movement looks great and after 2 hours she's still running strong. Will be going to sts for a service in the next few weeks just to be safe.

 

The hands may be service replacement too, but who cares? It's an amazing watch; IMHO the most iconic of all vintage watches.

Awesome watch! Matching the hands to the dial will make you barely notice the bezel. Killer watch, but beware...you will now want another one, and another one.

Look at @gemini4, he needs to change his avatar tagline to "Hoarder Of Speed and Sea"...and that is OK!

And yes I agree, once the hands are aged I think you're right. Although I know the bezel is incorrect it blends in better than I thought it would. The hands stick out a mile though.

If your sending to STS they will match the hand lume to the dial included in the price of a service. Sorted.
